SNG CC or SMF CC for EDC?

I am considering getting my first Strider knife. I really like the looks of the CC versions, is there any drawbacks to them over the originals? I normally EDC a 710, full size Manix, ZT0200 (only knife I can feel in my pocket) or similarly sized knife, will I have a problem with the SMF? I wear a glove sized extra large, would the SNG be too small or is it still a big knife?

I have big paws, and the SMF was probably my favorite big folder (too thick in the edge for me). However, while not a nuisance, it was too big for my tastes for pocket carry. My SNG was perfect, again, except for the thickness of the edge. I personally would go for the SNG. I am not familiar with the CC designs.

I have both in CC.

The CC designs are very narrow and the SNG has some sharp edges because of thios design. i prefer the SMF CC and I have normal size hands.

The SMF was too big for me to EDC. I prefer my SNG. I have never handled a CC version of either one. The CC versions may change my opinion.

CC is much better IMO.

Your going from a Sebenza to a Strider... That's all good, but remember a Strider will not have the fit and finish that the Sebenza does. Also Strider folders need a break in, carry it for a month at least before you decide if you like it or not.

I think you will find that after you reprofile the edge, there are no other knives as tough, as light, and as good of a cutter! CC and DGG carry great, clip is tough.. So bending clips will be a think of the past.

You owe it to yourself to try one. They trade/sell fast if you don't like it

no probs whatsoever with regular SMF ))))

If you're looking for a thinner carry, you might consider the DGG models over the CC ones. So-Lo can tell you more since he's had both versions, but IIRC from handling them, the DGG model is slightly thinner than the CC model.

I think you'll like the SMF better. The CC's are slick looking and feel nice. I actually prefer the AR myself. But you aren't gonna find a harder worker than a Strider Folder of any make. They are everything they're hyped to be and then some. Do carry it for a while before you decide if you want to keep it. not only do they take time to break in as has been said above, they take time to get used to carrying. I know I have switched the way I carry my AR about 6 different times. It's not an easy folder to EDC even for a big guy like me cause it's such a pig. I finally settled on a belt pouch from TAD Gear. It rides horizontally and I don't even notice I got the knife on me. Until I back up next to a wall and hear it go THUD! I wear it in the 4:30 or south/east position assuming my belt buckle is at 12:00 or north.

The SMF is a bit big for carry for me. I would rather have an SNG for EDC. I think the SNG CC's are fantastic for EDC.

I just got a SMF. Before it arrived, I'd planned to EDC it. AFter it arrived, I decided that it was just too big for EDC (sheeple would have heart attacks just looking at it). I've been looking at getting a SNG just for the smaller measure and EDC.

IMO, the SnG is the perfect sized knife... never tried an SMF though... I am considering it for m next purchase... Got SnG #3 on the way though! My favorite one so far is the CC.... but an off center blade made me not even want to carry the regular SnG I owned... The one coming has a centered blade and is Stonewashed.. Lookin' Fwd to it!

I really think I'll end up flippin' the SMF when I get it... I really have no interest in a knife that big, but WHO KNOWS... the Spyderco Military gets my vote fo the best knife I've ever owned, and it's blade is bigger than the SMF... Only experience will tell, I guess!

I do find the size of a DGG or CC SNG to be perfect.... But for some reason since I sold my MSC NIghtmare DGG SMF it will not leave my mind.

It's going to be my next knife (CC or DGG SMF)... Well maybe a CC PT for the watchpocket... Wait.. No maybe a Umnumzaan...

:D

I think the SNG CC is the better choice.
That's all good, but remember a Strider will not have the fit and finish that the Sebenza does. Also Strider folders need a break in, carry it for a month at least before you decide if you like it or not.
My SNG & PT CC needed about 3 days of opening & closing to break in. After that they were smooth as a Sebenza. When you carry the SNG in your pocket you know you're carrying a knife. It weighs about the same as a Sebbie but the handle is much wider. IMO I can't use a folder bigger than the SNG. Its tough enough for any job you can ask of a folder and the choil gives you grip options that you won't have in other folders.

I am 5'8 and 160lbs with smaller hands..I much prefer the SMF over the SNG. I don't notice a size difference when carrying in my right front pocket. The SMF just feels like the right size.
