I recently made a trade for a LNIB Strider SNG (thanks to SIFU1A!) and it arrived this morning . While I've owned and handled a few Striders this was my first experience with the digicam blade finish and I must say that it's very cool in person. Looking at it in pics I never realized that parts of the pattern were made up of a shiny metallic gold finish
- I guess the next logical step after "tacti-cool" is "tacti-bling"
Anyway, after tightening the pivot, applying a few drops of Wilson Combat Ultima-Lube, and slashing/hacking up the packing materials it was ready to go
. The blade opens smoothly and locks up tightly with a satisfying "CLACK".
While I generally prefer around a 3" blade for EDC I found that the PT that I briefly owned just didn't work for me for some reason. On the other hand, the larger hand-filling grip combined with the large choil and 3" cutting surface make the SNG feel "just right". To me these features make the knife seem a little smaller than it really is - it definitely handles like a smaller knife. I don't know if this will replace my EDC Small Sebenza but I'll carry it and play with it for a few days and see what happens.
I'm not the best photographer and I have yet to set up a light box but I think I managed to get a decent snap of the blade finish:
Thanks for reading, JAB
