SnG, loctite, soldering iron, boiling water...

I'm trying to adjust the pivot on my SnG, but there seems to be a whack of threadlock on it. My crappy soldering iron barely worked the first time, as I still had to apply Hurculean strength and torque to loosen it even the slightest amount. Doesn't seem to be working anymore. So I tried dunking the pivot end of the knife in a cup of just-boiled water (suggested and okay'd by many Strider fanboys on USN) and that lightened the colour of the ranger green G10 where it was covered by the water:grumpy:. So I have a few questions in light of all this:

1) Is there any way to fix the discoloration, like maybe some sort of oil rubbed in, or maybe some other chemical?

2) How many times do you have to break the threadlock before the last application wears off?

3) Is there a way to protect the G10 when doing the boiling water method?

I obviously need a more powerful soldering iron, but it stings a little as I just bought this crummy one last week expressly for the SnG. Any and all opinions welcome. Be nice, though.:)

Spray WD 40 on the handles. I doubt boiling water will break the bond. Get a bigger soldering iron.

Someone who can't break the locktight on a pivot is calling Strider guys 'fanboys'?

Hmmm.:D

I set mine on my space heater on in my garage. No problems
You just dunk the whole knife in a pot of boiling water that way the G10 will look the same.
