Hey guys,

I've owned a sng for awhile now and have searched this forum as well as google and have never been able to find an answer to my question which is; what is the purpose/design reason behind the gap/divot between the finger choil and the blade. Is it just for safety reasons when your choking up? Seems like if it wasnt there then Mick could've squeezed a little more blade length out of the sng. It also always seems to catch on it whenever I am cutting paper or cardboard (i know this knife wasn't designed to cut paper!) just wondering. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but i looked and couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance!

I may be wrong but I thought it was there to facilitate sharpening of the heel of the blade.

i believe thats the the area where the raised g10 in the handle scale sits to stop the blade when closed ;)

Yup, it's a sharpening choil that doubles as a place for the blade stop to fit when the blade is closed.
