My legs are in agony with every step I take due to a recent gym session, yet for some reason I chose to do one of the the toughest local hikes today !!!!

I even managed to get to the top in a time which might well be my quickest yet~

Just past the summit is an awesome place to rest up and indulge in a quiet cup of tea....a little reward for my lung busting effort~

I'd barely taken one sip of tea when I heard a noise and spotted two baby deer about 30 yards below me, I quickly turned to put Snicker on her leash but she was already gone and was half way to the deer !
I whistled and shouted but the deer took off with Snicker in hot persuit down the rugged mountainside as only deer and Jack Russells can !!!

After a few minutes it was totally silent, I figured either Snicker had met up with the deers mum and been kicked into the middle of next week or else she was still chasing them and would be miles away and unable to find her way back.

I had no choice but to make my way down with Maisy and try to find her.
I'd been scrambling down on jelly legs for about 10 minutes when Snicker suddenly appeared, tongue hanging out and tail wagging like she'd just had the best time ever.........yeah she's not on my best dog list right now !!!!!

At least Maisy deserved some of the dog treats I had~

I then took the dogs to a mountain pool to cool off, Maisy decided she wanted a stick ( Tree ) that was in the pool~

Really like the last pic of Maisy.

At least Snicker is OK, though. I've seen a few dogs chase deer and never saw the dogs again. (This actually happened last year about a week before the second gun season opened)

Yeah true, I just said to the wife that at least she appeared to be making her way back to me.

Nice pics pd, glad she came back. Our German short hair took off after four deer two minutes before opening pheasant season about seven years ago. Took us three hours to find her.

It took my brother forever to train his jack russel, he finally used a shock coller & that dog learned very fast then !!!:D

Yeah I hear ya......Snicker has become a well behaved little dog and quite suprised us by not living up to the general perception of how Jack Russells behave........except when she's chasing something and then all her good behaviour goes out the window. It's just in a Jack Russells genes to be the little hunter.
I guess all things considered when I listen to the horror stories about some of my friends canine pals, Snicker is still a pretty good dog.

Looks like the kind of place I would like to hang out in. And Maisy sure likes sticks in water.

What handle is on that knife?

Yep as someone who has owned JRTs for over 16 yrs I don't care how well you think they are trained it will happen, if I am on a trail they are leashed. Know of many JRT owners who's dog went in a hole and never returned.

Nice pics bro. Dogs will be dogs man, my old Lab used to disappear chasing rabbits and then meet me back in camp an hour or two later.

So Snicker was just having to much fun .My squirrel dog Pepsi is the same way.
