Hi,

I'm interested in this blade for my next purchase. I'm a gun guy and would like opinions on this tactical folder. Quality of workmanship, ergos, factory edge sharpness, action. I prefer larger and heavier knives. Thanks

If you prefer "larger and heavier knives," Sniper Bladeworks has you covered in spades. They're not my cup of tea but I don't think I've seen anything negative about them. They seem solid and of very good quality.

They are nice enough knives, and S35VN is a good all-around steel. They are very heavy for the blade length, though, and for tactically purposes I would prefer a fixed blade.

I returned mine. The fit and finish was nowhere near where it should be at that price point. It's a neat design and other folks seem to like theirs, so maybe I just got a lemon.

Lemons should be scarce in this price bracket, so I don't see myself giving the brand another shot.

I've never owned nor handled anything from Sniper Bladeworks so can't really comment on their quality.

But if it were my money, and I wanted something "big and heavier" I'd probably just save myself $170 bucks and get a Cold Steel Recon 1, also in s35vn... 1.2oz lighter, half inch longer blade, and you generally know what you are gonna get with Cold Steel..

I've had my cts-xhp Recon 1 for like 7 years now and it's just as stout as the day I bought it.. just my .02 cents 🤷‍♂️

I have a fixed blade SBW and love it, it's an early version with just 5160 steel but the heat treat is spot on and holds an edge well.

I've handled one. The angle of the blade in relation to the handle is odd as you can plainly see. I don't like it myself. Blade is too thick imo.

Like Corton93 Corton93 , my first thought was Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter, AD10, or Recon 1. I know some folks poo poo CS since the GSM purchase but I've owned CS knives for years and never had to contact their customer service which has apparently died since the new owners took over. YMMV.

4 Max Scout in AUS10 is an option too. That would fit you chunky boi requirements and save you some $.

Even an old ZT 350 would be nice and save a few $ too.

That's been my experience as well.. probably had 12 or 13 CS knives at this point, a couple since GSM took over. Never had an issue that I couldn't fix with a torx bit and some loctite...

4Max got that next level Medford chunk 😆

Got one in trade so can’t speak for the factory edge but it’s definitely comfortable and the action is nutty with the weight of the blade. The lock bar pressure is light so the detent is also pretty light and you can feel the lock bar move in when you grip is hard. The blade stock is very wide but still glides through paper and cardboard no problem even at a 28-30 degree edge

Thanks for your first hand response. I'm still on the fence though. Enjoy your new blade!

Thanks Dad, can you elaborate what issues with the fit and finish?

Thanks for all the responses. I decided to pass on the LPC. I just ordered a Kizer Sheepdog XL in CF for $90. It has the dimensions I like, Warncliffe type blade and price was excellent. This will be my EDC for cold weather carry and my utility blade around the house. I'll post my impressions in a few days. I think my next purchase will be an Andre de Villiers Butcher if Im loving the Warncliffe blade.

I had a DFM and it was well-made. Like waa mentioned earlier , the angle of the blade in relation to the handle was a little strange. I couldn’t get used to it. So off it went to the exchange.

If you want a big, heavy tough folder, find a Benchmade Contego in M4 steel on the secondary market.
