Can't tell if this is off-topic or not (don't really know what the hell the topic is), but can anyone explain this kind of damascus to me (the kind show in the video), or tell me what the technique is called? It doesn't look like damascus as I know it -- almost like the blade's been drawn on by one of those silver Sharpie paint pens. I saw a Sebenza or Mnandi with this once, in a zebra pattern. Is it damascus as we know it? (I know nobody knows exactly how "true" damascus is made, but you know what I mean.)
I would also like to know this ....i wish everyone had intelligent questions ...i know yall are just joking around and its all in good fun but lets evolve I wanna learn some stuff about special knives.
I have been coming across some interesting readings lately about ancient Damascus and the pieces found in archeological digs, some of which belonged to Alexander the Great or were have thought to be directly related to his genealogy based on inscriptions....everything I read interests me...there is so much lost and found secrets ...I was trying to find an interesting artical I was reading about an art gallery displaying Damascus blades through history of almost every early power, and there is almost always direct ties To the occult and hints that the manufacturing of this steel was a very closely guarded secret associated with the dark arts or wizardry and crazy crap like that
Here is another interesting link I just came across don't know now relevant it was
http://www.winstonbrill.com/bril001/html/article_index/articles/101-150/article122_body.html
there is so much to learn and rediscover about ancient traditions and knife making
you dig deep enough you will probably find a good reason that the history and origin of these steels was and still is is some respects shrouded in secrecy and although we know a lot more now than we did......how much more is there to learn and uncover?
- their were no cruise missiles or JDams, or Bradley's, or strykers, or precision rifles or even handguns and even black powder weaponry and explosives was still being fine tuned and considered sourcery/magic and eventually becoming accepted as effective projectiles going mainstream like the cannon where we see again the tinkering of the perfect density vs weight vs cost/ease of production of the projectiles
...."sovereign security " literally depended on the strength of the steel and it's effective properties you could employ, you can find through research so much tinkering to get the best of all worlds in terms of the benefits if edge, resistance, flex, resistance to corrosion etc
Let's respect the history and tradition of the steel as weaponry, from swords dag
gers, shuriken, all the way to modern history tanks and marvels of warfare and promote actual discussion actual education....not hey bro u need to cool it because you saw a piece of steel that got you excited as could be because it embodied and expressed a long rich history of where our species has evolved
not a "fan boy" I appreciate someone who has put in several hundred thousand man power hours progressing a style that is classic, original and unique and I'm privileged to watch priceless art be produced.
the ability to even lay eyes on such a priceless piece of art...you can't buy those dues paid I don't even need to defend- watch the video...u may be able to buy the blade but you cannot buy the passion and heart that what went into making it.
I'm very grateful to even be here with u guys right now discussing it its an honor and a privilege.
Not a whole lot of people live and breath the passion and dedicate their lives to it that's why I respect mike so much people are in it for different reasons....u can talk to him one time and look at his body of work and know its in his champion pedigree....the way u talk about oh snody has been on the scene for awhile ...I guess u don't see the rate of his progression....people's work is often interpreted long after they leave their mark and people will be interpreting work like this thousands of years from now as an all time legend...thats the kinda shit legends have flowing thru their arteries...I'm fthe belief mike is in his own right LEGENDARY
I have a snody knife that makes my compass start spinning uncontrollably no bullshit. He told me he heat treated under a full moon..
Not a fan...now I'm a believer
