Hey guys.

So I've been watching some of Snody's videos, and while I don't consider myself... well, anything but a good dad and husband, I have to admit, I find the guy a little fascinating. His style and manner is just endearing somehow.

Anyway, so I'm interested in knowing what you guys think about his knives. I see them on the exchange a lot (which means he must be selling them!), but I don't hear much from owners. I don't believe that I've seen any reviews.

I'd love to hear about any of his product line, but I'm specifically interested in his "Boss" and friction folder.

Tell me about f&f, materials, edge retention, how you use them... All of that.

Thanks. :)

The only Snody's I have are made by Benchmade. Probably not on par with his personal stuff. I have an HK 14300, HK 14455, and a HK 14250-702. All are great knives. I think that the 14455 fires harder and faster than any of my other autos. F&F, and edge retention is great. But, like I said, I am sure that his personal stuff is head and shoulders above the production ones from Benchmade.

Thanks, I'll have to look those up.

I use to talk with a designer over at Benchmade. He said that Mike was far and away his (their?) favorite collaboration partner to work with. That spoke volumes. :)

Anyone ever used one of his ti blades? I'd like to hear about how you maintain the edge, and how well it cuts. I'd imagine that it's toothy?

He definitely seems like quite a character and his work looks top notch! One of these days I'll have to pick up a blade off of him

Im sure he does nice work and is a gentleman.

I just do not like his style. I am not into the dollar signs $$$$$ and gangsta pimp bling bling.

I do not like that almost every knife is photographed with gold bars, gucci wallets, hundred dollar bills, etc.

Reminds me of a knife a pimp or drug dealer would carry.

Not my cup of tea I guess

I've had a handful of his smaller fixed blades, including 2 of his BOSS line, they were all top notch in finish and quality, as well as some of the sharpest out of the box I've ever seen from ANYBODY :) I've never had the opportunity to get one of his friction folders or other folders but I'd sure love to. I only sold the BOSS knives because I was never using them, smaller fixed blades are kind of superfluous to the rest of my rotation :o

I kinda like his "style;" while I certainly don't mirror it, I can appreciate his good attitude and the fact he's clearly having a ton of fun :D

I have a few including the Boss and friction folder. The craftsmanship is top notch in my opinon. Mike almost exclusively uses chisel grinds on those two models and they come sharp and hold an edge well. I think the ones I have are both CPM154, a steel he seems to use often. The friction folder is very lightweight and he packs a decent amount of blade in a smallish handle. I like mine very much. I have only stropped my user Boss and the chisel grind with the micro bevel on the backside is easy to maintain.

I use the Boss for a little of everything from food prep to everyday tasks like opening boxes and breaking them down. I have not used the friction folder too much yet. It makes a nice gentlemens knife.

I've talked to Mike many times and he's a heck of a nice guy. When he says give me a call if you need anything he really means it.
Recently he's been working on a collab with Ka-Bar and I'm patiently waiting to see what they come up with. The Benchmade collabs are very nice from what I've seen.

And now for some eye candy.

The top one is a limited piece called the Big Boss. (It's NOT for sale!!) the bottom is a zombie Boss that I sadly no longer own.

Pretty much my feelings as well.

Exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks bro!

(just kidding about the "bro" :p )

As for style, I get it, I'm 38 with a wife and kids. I'm not exactly your typical "baller", although I'm sure if you saw me you'd probably call me *something*. I'm not sure how "gangsta" he considers himself in real life, although the Blade story on how the whole thing came about is funny. I also believe that he is sincere when he talks about family, a positive attitude and the whole thing about calling for help. I believe him because in that way we ARE similar.

Hmm... I think I'll need one of his products to see for myself. I sort of like the idea of trying a ti blade, plus I've never owned a friction folder. The only product that I've seen that I'd probably never buy is the Crisis Card. I just can't see how one would access such a thing if stuff really WAS going down.

His fricton folders look great, but the $$$ signs all over make it look like a pimp knife. A subdued model made of moderate materials would be a winner.

No problem bro! ;)

I think your impression of Mike is spot on.

As for me I'm a year older, married w/two kids, professional, blah, blah, blah. Who cares right? I don't.
Buy what you like and enjoy it. I'm gonna pimp my fricky at the office tomorrow just because. :D

He used to one with a solid green micarta handle. I see them on the bay once in a while.

I have never owned one of his knives but I respect the way that he has handled himself on the forum. We are worlds apart ( Montana vs "thug/ gangster") but the fact that he always puts his family first, never goes out of his way to start a confrontation and is always more than happy to put his personal phone number out there for people to call, makes me have "much respect" for the guy. I don't know what happened to his TV show but I would love to see it.
