Well, we got a bit of ice and snow last night so it looks like I get to spend the day at home bored. We don't get much in the way of snow and ice, but because we aren't used to it and don't have the equipment to deal with it like our northern kin, it doesn't take much to shut the place down.

The roads are covered with about a quarter inch of ice from the freezing rain. It came down yesterday first as sleet, then a little snow. The sleet melted as it hit the warmer road then the snow came down on top of it and caused it to freeze into ice again. It snowed about 3", then turned into freezing rain which compacted the snow and froze over top of it. It did that all night until the road was so compacted with ice then snow then ice then snow then ice, that even when they scraped it the ice was sticking to the pavement.

I have 4 wheel drive with aggresive tires and high torque, and I could get to work if i wanted to. However, managing a swimming pool store means that when things get shut down around town you sort of say to heck with it and stay home. The wife works for the metro school system, so she has the day off work. We get to hang out together today...well if by hang out you mean sit on the couch and watch make over shows and "what not to wear" on TLC:barf: Thanks, but I'll pass. For such a wonderfully funny and complex woman, she sure likes to watch grade A garbage on TV.

.....so he I sit already stir crazy and wishing spring would hurry up and get here. Damn groundhog:mad: I see a lot of xbox in my future for the day ahead. The worst part of it is that I have about 3 books that i want to read...all sitting on my desk at my office. Oh well, there's always movies to watch. Man, not even 11 o'clock and I'm climbing the walls:p

go make a sheath for the seax and other knives.

go.

now.

get off your er...computer chair.

git.

I'd love to, Kis... However, ya see I don't exactly work at work. There isn't anything to do there in the winter except answer a call or two a day. Most of my day is spent playing on the net, reading books, or messing around making stuff from leather. Long story short, I have a very nice piece of leather here that would LOVE to be a sheath, it's just that all of my punches, drill bits, thread, dyes, stamps, needles, and shears are sitting on my work bench at work:o

That said, I do need to make a blade covering for my chopped down cold steel pole axe. That won't require anything fancy. I think I have enough thread to do that, maybe a little bit of dye or stain at the bottom of a can or bottle..hmmm. Great idea:) Thankya!

Meh...gave up and drove into work. The main roads aren't bad at all, but the neighborhood subdivisions are 4-5" deep of unscraped and unsalted snow and ice. I don't know how any of the neighbors driving sedans are going to get out. I have 31" tires and 4WD, and I still bogged down a bit going around the deep corners.

The good news is that now I have 4 or 5 hours to get some work down and read a little bit.:D:thumbup:

Jake, you went to work... so now you're not going to make a "snowmugger being attacked with a khukuri" video for YouTube?

Mike :p

Mike, in order to do that, I would be required to consciously get out in that white stuff. Me no likey the cold:D Besides, that stuff is like playing in a giant snow cone. It's not fluffy and fun...just cold frozen ice pellets that make you feel like you are manually defrosting the fridge:p

going to school on a snow day.

The other kids are gonna kill you. :grumpy:

Hey Jake, don't knock What not to Wear. I like that show, most of the time and have gotten some good tips that have payed off. ;) But yeah, I only watch it once in a while. Wouldn't do it all day. Funner to go into work to do Leather stuff... At least, thats what I'd do. You made a good choice. Got pics of what you did today?
