Yesterday was the first day to see some fluffy white stuff falling from the sky here in Wauseon. There wasn't much but evidently there was enough that fell over night to result in snowy patches on the ground this morning. Using a wood furnace to heat the house means that its time to start getting outside and chopping some firewood. Does anyone else enjoy chopping up firewood like I do? Lets see those Swamp Rat choppers at work!

Ah snow, something we just never get down here. One of the only things I miss about winter, the cold not so much.

I did split some mesquite for the grill Thursday, but didnt get any pics. :o

We've been wanting to get a wood burning stove in the house for some time.

I dont have a wood stove or anything like that but I do have a fireplace. I dont usually have a camera with me when splitting wood or getting it ready but last year I used my satin battle rat alot to baton wood into smaller pieces for starting my fire. The duty was split about 50/50 between the satin battle rat and my b11. gotta love resc!

I totally agree nothing like chopping/batoning logs for the fire. I sold all of my SR choppers but I do batton with my RMD from time to time, like a hot knife through butter.

That Ratmandu has been through a few pieces of fire wood, its good to see users like this one. :)

Snow?!?! We've still only had a couple dustings this year. What a dry year it has been! :(

Here's a few pics of my once-mint Chopweiler I deflowered this past summer to split some wood for a campfire on a trip to the mountains. :D

Looks even better now with a thinned, polished, and convexed edge.

(hmm, I guess I need an updated pic of it...)

It sounds like you should update the picture, it's looking pretty good to me in the pictures you've already posted. We only had a light dusting in the morning that was gone before noon when it did snow. I'm ready for colder weather, snow ball fights and snowmobiling are what I'm wishing for sometime soon

We had over a foot of snow, and had the snowmobile out, but that snow has been reduced to less than 3 inches now and nothing is expected over the longer term. I put the snowmobile back into summer storage and fuel stabilizer in the tank. Its another ATV season. Too many rocks and sharps on the trail wreck the tracks on the sleds. Our snowmobile clubs have been going belly up in recent years due do a lack of snow cover.

^ At least there was enough snow to get the mobiles out for a little while...

With the fuel injected ATVs today, the lack of snowcover is not a problem. If you like snowmobiling the ATV is a good choice when the weather doesn't cooperate.

ATVs are a year round favorite, especially when there is mud involved. :) I like going out into our woods and seeing what kind of touble I can get into. The fourwheeler has to be able to get through a bunch of paths this time of year for hunting seasin, so I normally take something to chop a path if I need to get through.

Machetes are very handy when 4 wheeling. I made a sheath using ABS drain pipe and heated it in the oven until it was soft enough to mold a sheath for the ATV. There was a thread on it awhile back, I gave it a try and works well.

OK, so I had to chop up a bunch of big cardboard boxes tonight, and figured while I had her out of her cage I should snap a pic for you guys. Look at that edge shine!!! :D

That is a great looking blade you've got there, I've always liked the Jungle Green when its put on a Swamp Rat. Rarely seen though

Yeah, I love the Jungle Green too. Rare color on Rats. That Choppy would ROCK with some of the new Orange and Green G10 Swamp Rat handle scales in place of the black G10 she has on. ;)
