Went camping and brought along the Mule and a SAK Spartan.
Knife did fine as expected.
Ive used the MicroMelt Spyderco for a while now and was prepared for a bit of patina from use but so far nothing.
Used to Mule for simple food prep.
This time no big meal - just a few franks over the fire using the 'Grandpa's FireGrill' from Light My Fire.
I usually bring along a chopper just for the sheer joy of using it but an axe can be far more versatile.
Just my opinion of course - YMMV.
The camp fire was made using the humble
beard axe, which started life as this;
...then via this;
....and ended up as this viking inspired beard axe;
After dinner and a few beers, it was time to hit the hay or rather the hammocks and shelter.
In the morning, I was the first to wake and I was greeted by the sight of freshly fallen snow. Not too shabby.
The burning embers of the fire had kept the snow at bay
The guys were snoring away in hammocks and shelters
Is that a snow hare ...or the deadly Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog on the table!?
....nope. But close
Ive used the snot out of the PD1 knife.
As mentioned, there is not much patina but as it sees more use, it will undoubtedly show some signs of use.
Even though the knife has seen a fair bit of use, Ive not had to sharpen it often.
This was of course expected, as the MicroMelt is supposed to resist wear even better than D2, which is a steel I also like.
A day and night well spent in the woods with a well made knife....oh, and of course a few buddies .... cant beat that.

Half-asXXd 'Swedish fire torch from the above camping trip. Just because ...
