Hi, quite a months passed since I've posted last time.

I've heard a nice survival story on radio last night, just wanted to share with you if it's not posted already.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17088173

it says a man in Sweden was trapped in a car with heavy sonw and survived for two months (!!) to be rescued recently.
Obviously a sleeping bag helped him to do that days and it is said he lived on melted snow but for me those things are no't
enough to explain what happend. A truly remarkable story I think.

Sorry for being absent for long. I'm still alive and doing fairly well but have not done much outings.

Thanks for reading.

Extraordinary. He must have looked like the sprout of Victoria Beckham and Gollum, conceived in hate and borne in fear.

Latest rumors here was that he was "hiding", not trapped. He apparently owed a lot of money to someone.
Hardly a survival story, more of a mental illness case.

that makes more sense. 2 months in a vehicle, survives on water from melted snow, .06 from a major road that he drove off of to get where he was found.

to many holes in the story. its not like he was from somewhere that doesn't have snow. he dealt with it all his life, and suddenly he gets stuck and can't get out of it.

i agree with the rumors, the story was/is to hard to believe. i'm guessing the people he owed money to know where to find him now.

This guy was just 0,6 miles away from a main street(!). Even in the worst weather conditions he could have made it easily to this street.

I know Sweden very well from wilderness trips in Summer and Winter and also from work. The main streets are always maintained during winter time and you can expect cars passing by on a main street even in the most remote areas.

I don't believe this story.

Well, if temps had dropped down to -30C/-22F, just trying to walk 1/2 mile in the wrong clothes can get you killed. Fighting deep snow and developing a sweat will kill in those temps. This was the same temperature that destroyed the Nazis in their Russian campaign, btw. When it gets this cold, exposed flesh is flash-frozen and steel can shatter.

I don't know if that guy really spent 2 months in his car, but he definitely would have died if he tried to walk outside to the main road and tried to wait for someone to come by.
