Snow!

Yikes! He's holding the cord of a indoor appliance while standing in wet snow.

What is this "snow" of which you speak?

As I type this, it is 5 degrees outside, with about 2" of snow on the ground, iced over roads, and bad drivers.

I hate winter! :grumpy:

9 inches here at the house, and last night it got down to -3.
It warmed up a little today, but the roads are still icy, and the majority of drivers are idiots..

I like winter, I just hate working in it

The drivers are the worst. Just because they all have SUV's they think they can go plowing around town. We watched a dozen of them slide off the road at the corner near our place of work in the first storm last week. One took out the light post altogether.

They don't realize that it's good tires with studs, and not 4WD, that makes a car stay on the road. My wife drives a Corrolla so equipped and she never gets stuck.

I drive an SUV.

Most don't understand that an SUV or other four wheel drive vehicle won't stop any better than a two wheel drive. Those are the idiots who are in the ditch, or piled up into a gaurdrail.

I ran studs on my old two wheel drive truck whaen I was in high school. My MILF ran a set on her car when we were dating.

MILF drives a mini van. No studs. She gets around just fine. No studs on my SUV either. Not an issue.

Drive smart. Slow down when conditions are poor. Works for us.

Oh, poor me. Today the temperature was a blistering 70 degrees and sunny.Has not been this hot during November in years. I wish we got snow this far south.

Two feet of snow here last night.

Studs and chains aren't legal here in MI. Then again we don't have mountains and we have the biggest salt mine in the US so roads don't stay bad for too long.

We haven't had any snow yet but it won't be long. Luckily the company I work for is very big on safety. They'd rather have me come in late than get in an accident so I tend to take my sweet time when driving in snow or on ice.

Check your tire pressure and washer fluid often. ;)

Make sure that you get your vehicle rust proofed every year in those areas where they use salt. If not then don't bother changing the oil or anything else, the vechicle will be rotted out before the engine goes.

I hate the stuff because not only for the damage, but for the driving conditions it creates as the good snowpack turns to mush that compromises steering, braking and visibility. If my windshield is blinded by salt spray all bets are on that the other drivers are blinded too.

Salt may be better suited in areas to the south where winters are mild and frost does not freeze the ground. In cold climates sand is far more effective in controling icing.

Unfortunately with broad stuborn government policies, DOT feels that what works well in the city of Toronto will work just as well 1500 miles to the northwest.

Yeah, after reading that I realized that not being an idiot is probably the best bet for keeping a car on the road in the snow. That, and good tires. I did not mean to disparage SUV drivers. Their vehicles just have a lot of mass / inertia (I should talk; Toyota Tundra w/shell = big SUV), and 4WD just helps you go, not stop.

Interesting video, over here in Sunny Oz we generally vacuum the inside of the house.

There is no snow here in Massachusetts. It's too early for that. The pollen is pretty thick tonight. You can see it blowing through the air. It's even settling on the grass, but not on the road. The wind blows the pollen off the road and onto the grass. If you didn't know better you might think it's snow, but it's only pollen.

That's awesome, SPXTrader.
I wish I was more mechanically inclined, I could get my driveway plowed a lot faster.
