Snowlion / tibetan source

Bill mentioned referring people to this place after his try at adding other non-khukuri items to HI's line didn't take off. However, the url he gave didn't compute for me. This one does. Interesting stuff.

Snow Lion is probably THE number one source for english language Tibetan and Tibetan-Buddhist related publications in the country. They also have a lot of other interesting stuff - videos, tapes, statues, paintings, etc. Their newsletter/catalog will also be of interest to folks interested in Tibetan-Buddhism.

They are based in Ithaca, NY, which is also where His Holiness the Dalai Lama has his main US-based monastery, the Namgyal Monastery. That was where the late grunge-rocker Kurt Cobain's (of Nirvana fame) ashes were interred for a while (trivia info!) I spent a couple of my college years there, lovely place, though the winters were a bit rough.

Thanks for putting up the link, Rusty.

Wait a minute!!!

Did I just read Sonam saying that Ithaca New York was alright, but that those winters were rough???

Oh yeah, that's it. He grew up following his dad around India, not in Nepal. (VBG)

That's right, Rusty, hot, dusty, dirty India and even when in the mountains in Kashmir, Sikkim/Darjeeling, Arunachal, the winters never seemed to last as long as it did upstate. Then again, just prior to moving there I was in Delhi for several years so that could have skewed my judgement a bit! In Delhi, summer starts around early April and by June it gets to above 125 and stays that way for a while! Me, used to that, getting dumped in Ithaca during a January snowstorm, believe me, once the novelty of the white stuff wore off, I was one unhappy camper until I reconciled myself to the situation!

ROTFLMAO - that's the way life happens for me too, Sonam.
