Hi Guys,
Just wanted to display some pic´s from my latest snowmobile trip at the Arctic Circle.
The trip starts from Mårdsel / Norrbotten, 80km from Boden.
In the morning the temperature was about -15C, but rising fast to about -5C which is more pleasant for snowmobiling. Our plan for this day was to lay some new tracks from Mårdsel to the Arctic Circle, it´s supposed to be a pretty large track, but since the snow have just poring in over the north site of the country. All tracks have been coved in deep snow, I´ll say it was about 1 meter thick snow.
First Picture is just over our Sleds:

Second Picture is just an image of how very awsome the Swedish swamps looks like winter time.

Sure some of us had some problems with the deep snow, this is my buddy Niclas that is pretty much stuck :D

At this time we were pretty hungry and a couple of grilled burgers would do us good. That´s when I take my A1z that use to be black coated but after some years of wear and tear i decided to grind it to almost satin accept for the back. Anyhow as an axe is too heavy to carry in the rucksack these distances and we rather have an extra bottle of water the A1z was a really good companion. This time it´s tasks was to splitt wood to smaller pieces to make a fire.

And the fire is made, sorry we do not use any special gadgets like survival fire starters, we use a regular cigarette lighter that we keep in a dry warm place. Sure these strikers work very well, but when you are hungry and cold, you just want a fire fast, therefor we stick to the fast method.

Well that was all folks, thank you for your time!

Excellent thread! Thank you for posting it along with the pictures. You know, it's kind of funny but it's just like looking at where I used to live in Michigan. That was no where near the pole. I guess on the TV I always see pictures of Tundra, or ice floes & polar bears clubbing baby seals. :)

Thanks!

Joe

Thanks for posting. Great pictures, looks like it was a fun excursion.

Hi,
thanx Joe, I´ll say we have a pretty normal climate and I think our landscape called Northern Taiga but I can be wrong...
It´s the amount of snow that can be tough around here, I guess i will disappoint some of you when i say we have no Polar bears in Sweden :-)
