snowshoes and e-tools

Some details when asking for help is only going to help you. Not knowing where on the planet you are, what your weather is like (aside from guessing cold), and not knowing anything about intended use or your skill level/ability makes this a no go.

Northern Lites are the best..and lightest(which is super important). I've done a chitload of snowshoing and harnessed with some heavy shoes way out there at the farthest part of a fulcrum..sucks. Especially while winter backpacking.

My older first gen pair 9x30" are only 2.2lbs per pair(36oz. most brands weigh twice that much). They've(the brand in general) since gotten slightly heavier, but still rule.

My bud post holing. w/o shoes.

Shoeing is still tough regardless. Me after breaking trail all day long(same day as the pic just above) for the group.

Posting holing as we climb to 11,600 to make camp. I'm up above leading. Crampons were in use at this moment tho.

Theres also the inflatable Airlites that are slightly lighter(32oz per pair), but I'd be concerned with durability. I'd thik they'd be great for emergerncy backup like aboard a snow machine or dog sled.

thanks for the tip. i'm in pretty much the middle of southern ontario. on the outskirts of a small town. there's mostly farmed fields around, but some bush. i can't find the average snowfall anywhere. we usually get a few storms a year that'll dump about a foot, maybe foot and a half.

skill level is beginner to n/a. just looking for a way to keep in shape during inclement weather.

as for the e tool, i'm looking at less than $100 cdn. that's stand up to a fair amount of abuse. i have a folding job i picked up at the hardware store. it's alright, but feels loose. the best part about it is it folds up small enough to fit in a pocket of my pack.
