Awesome pictures and great shelter. You probably know this already but you can fill those blue nalgene bottles with boiling water, secure the cap, and put them in your sleeping bag. In a cold, snowy environment it makes a ton of difference.

Thanks for the pics!

Those are the photos I like to see. Beckers in their natural environment being used! No shelf queens here! :D

THanks guys....
MM thanks man THe nalgene hot water bottle trick is a life saver.. saved my bacon while sleeping in natural shelters in the winter more than once....LOL

p.s. If I may ask -- where were you set up?....eb

Ethan, Thanks so much for the kind words, and for making such wonderful knives....
This was the firs time I was trying out a new combination of tools... (bk7, Victorinox forrester, and a kershaw folding saw) they worked out well and complimented each other excellently.

We where set up in harriman State park..Not far from Island pond (which is viewable from the appalachian trail)

as I get the opportunity to get out more.. Hopefully I can get more pics up. thanks again, and best regards.

Riley, how long did that hemlock bed take you? That stuff is work!!!

Joe, after wading through all that snow to gather shelter and fire materials I didn;t have the energy to thatch it properly...so it is just a lofty coering made of layers.. Took me about an hour to gather the bows (snow was deep) they where mostly gathered from branches that where broken fro the weight of the storm..took about 20 mins to layer decently,..
