Well, I would really like to get another one. I heard something like a year ago, that HideAway Knife was under new management. There was talk of improvement. Sooooo..... is there any? As far as the knives that or ordered reaching the people who ordered them in a timely fashion.. Thanks so much.

I bought one in the day, and got good service.

Recently others report they also get great service. It's not easy to search here - I tried yesterday with a search engine and got nowhere - but shipments of available items seem to be prompt and complete.

In the past HAK had an issue with a large number of customers who demanded instant response to any question or query on available options, custom grinds, and shipping info. At the time, the one man shop was swamped with a i-storm of electronic hail because of it. He was also limited to the website design which was locked up with no way of changing it. As a new owner, with limited resources, and no way to work 24/7, he worked thru the daily grind until things got better. We should all do so well.

Place an order and you will get a great knife in a timely manner. It's not rocket science, but please expect a real world response from one or two people attempting to satisfy a demanding public.

Peter Atwood solved the problem by just not being that available, and only selling what was. Perhaps that wouldn't make some happy, but he seems to be whistling all the way to the bank.

A couple weeks ago, I ordered a Utility straight on a Sunday morning. Had it in my hand Friday afternoon. Enough said.

I don't think you understand the real story. HAK was started by "Frontsite" a female, supposedly "William" was also involved from the start, but his name never appeared until years later.

Front Site came up with a good idea of getting famous blademakers to make semi-custom neck knives. At first, the knives and service was great.
Then something happened, I dunno if Front Site had a tragedy in the family or if it was financial, but she just disappeared, leaving not just customers but her knifesmiths in the dark and unpaid. Eventually "william" showed-up and started to catch-up by standardizing blades and no-longer offering blades by famous smiths (probably because some were never paid).

How do I know? I was there before the start, used to communicate with Front Site pretty easily -until she disappeared, owing me deposit money on a talonite Strider. Took me 2 years to get a refund from William.

I had ordered one for my wife a number of months ago that wasn't in stock. The guy who runs HAK now, William, sent a more expensive knife with the option of keeping it at no additional expense or sending it back when the knife I ordered was available. We opted to send it back to get the one she wanted, and the first one didn't fit. Within a day another that did fit was sent with return paid mailers and everything.

I have had nothing but good experiences with William. He's top notch. The knives come in in batches and he fills the orders as fast as he can. Emails were always answered promptly and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I'm ordered mine before Frontsite left, I know all about that. I didn't feel the need to dredge up history to answer a desire for the current situation. Nonetheless, two years for a refund - !! And yes, I do remember your travails.

Search is down, history is nice, HAK is responsive. Get one while you can . . .

I have one of the customs (maybe its semi-custom, Brum I think) It came with a leather sheath really nice but the draw of the HAK is the ability to put it anywhere...not really feasible with the leather. Can they make me a sheath for it or should I just find a kydex maker? Any body have a HAK kydexed by someone other than Frontsight?

Sorry if this is a hi-jack.

I have 2, plus an entire bag of extras and accessories. I have had no issues with the company. This was probably 2 years ago.
