What's your choice for Micrometers? I would like to buy a digital Mic, but dont wanna break the little piggy bank! I need to save the REAL cash for Busse's!

Where to buy a decent quality 0-1" Mic.... for reasonable?

Harbor Freight has a very accurate digital caliper that is under $20. Lots of folks use it for reloading. Sometimes, you can find it on sale for $9.99.

I see that same model (made in China of course) with a number of different names on it.

Midway USA, for instance, sells it under the "Frankford Arsenal" name. Same caliper. Different paint job. You can check out the reviews there. 4.3 out of 5 stars with 54 reviews. If you don't have a Harbor Freight near you, shipping might actually be cheaper with Midway.

I have found that the batteries that come with these do not last.
Be prepared to replace them quickly. Good Luck.

then i decided i had to have a starrett. a little pricier, around $90 or so.

Yep... Starrett, Mitutoyo, Brown & Sharpe. All good stuff.

The OP said "reasonable," so I took that to mean inexpensive.

You get a lot of Chinese oomph for your buck with the HF deal, but it's not the same as having a really fine tool to admire.

(No one is allowed to touch that last line.)

I have a Mitutoyo 0-1 mic and caliper, worked in tool & die for a bit so the price was justified.

With those instruments, the metal and metal can mess up the finish on your knife, so if I were to buy a vernier JUST for the sake of measuring knives, I'd find a cheaper plastic one.
