whether the H20 they sold me is X15 or H1. The blade isnt marked at all, the handle is marked with "H20" on one side and the benchmade butterfly on the other. They didnt include an instruction manual for the knife, only the sheath and a warrenty card. So I guess this means I'm carrying a stone and flitz with me on vacation since I have no clue which I'll need.

ETA: I did call and they told me there was no way to tell which since they switched steels last year and who knows how long the knife has been sitting in the wholesalers inventory.

Hi LHD,

in our lab testing, neither X15Tn nor H-1 exhibited any corrosion. You shouldn't need your Flitz regardless of which material the blade is made from.

What made you decide on H-1 over X15Tn?

The knife performed flawlessly with close to 7 hours a day in carribean sea water. It did get some rust spots on it but I found that the fresh meat of a baby coconut will wipe rust away almost as well as a metal polish. I would use it in the water all day and then rinse it off in the hotel and let it dry outside of the sheath. I bought a very cheap diamond rod at walmart just before we left for touch ups and that worked EXTREMELY well. I got the blade hair popping sharp with a couple very light drags of the rod. I'm fairly convinced this knife is X15 after reading the torture test H1 was put through with no signs of corrosion. Either way I'm happy with my purchase.
