my knowledge of knives is admitably low, but I'm learning. anyway, I'm looking for an edc fixed-blade small enough to pocket carry that's under a hundred. here's what I've come across so far:

http://www.newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=4928

this is odd, but I love the way it looks-

or if anyone has some more sugestions that would be cool, thanks.

You keep it in the sheeple friendly zone. Good.

A benchmade can't be a wrong choice.

well I was really wanting something from grahamknives.com but my budget doesn't really cover it. I also like knives with a bit of natural too em, bone handle, antler, something like that. but for 70 bucks the benchmade would be nice to carry around... then again I've seen the first knife new on ebay for half that and with the bone handle I like so I'm not sure.

I have been carring the benchmade for over a year, and like it more all the time. You can get the better one for under $100 if you shop right on ebay.

I am a big fan of the japanese knives and have several of them, however for EDC the handle won't hold up and the blade though sharp will rust, the benchmade is far less care and more durable. Though you may want to look into another sheath for the benchmade its flat against the body but a little wide. The newer benchmade ( this year) now comes with two sheaths the standard leather and a second neck sheath.

so question, do they make the benchmade with more intresting scales? not that I have anything against wood. I like wood. wood is good. but in the pic it looks a little productiony I think.

Go to benchmade web site and look for the activator, or "snody" that is who designed it, the handles will sell you...then go hunt price on ebay should be able to buy new for about $80 or $55 for that wood one.

so I'm probably showing my noobness here, but what are g-10 scales exactly? they do look very cool.

If you click on the "G-10" link on BM's site it tells you about it:
"G10: An extremely durable makeup of layers of fiberglass soaked in resin, then highly compressed and baked. Impervious to moisture or liquid and physically stable under climate change. Most commonly black, but is available in various colors, too."

Edit: BTW, I too have been looking for a good fixed blade small enough to carry, I just ordered this yestarday:

Just a little bigger than the Activator, and obviously lower quality steel, but only 30 bucks so I thought I'd give it a shot

I really like my larger Bark River's---BUT I have a Micro something that is one of my worst blade purchases ever.

I also have a BM 211 that I carry occasionally--nice knife but rather smallish---I like the idea of the BM 210 neck sheath---which will fit the 211 also and sold separately by BM too---spendy though---$40 sheath for a $60 knife----might be worth getting a 210 just for the sheath that I could use between the 2 knives.

If you want something a hair bigger---take a close look at the Buck Mini Alpha Hunter---comes in either ATS-34 or CPM 154 or Cabela's 30V and any one of them is less than $100---all are Bos heat treated. Ya I like them and have 2--one of the screaming deals in knives right now.

all good choices. ive owned benchmades, excellent quality, fit, and finish.

ive heard nothing but good things about bark rivers, but have never owned one.

and ag russell is awesome. take a look through the site, you may find something else interesting. i like the look of the one you posted, but dont know anything about it. he has some great hunting type knives at very good prices.

I edc the Bark River Mini Canadian in a Russell Woodswalker hip pocket sheath. It is a fantastic pocket fixed blade

The 2 fixed blades that I EDC in my pocket on occcasion are: Tom Krein TK-2 & Nemesis Knives Arch Ally. Both are most excellent knives for pocket carry.

I have one of the Snody Limited Additions and it is a very nice little knife which I probably use every day to cut something. Love the way the handle looks and the sheath is stout and very handsome with the pebble grain leather.

You would have no problem with carrying this little jewel in your pocket.

Of the three you give I would go with the Benchmade. The Blade shape is very good as an all round edc ( as is the Bark River ) but I would prefer D2 steel on a small knife like that,it will keep a good edge for a very long time !!!

I have this TOPS Wolf Pup which can be had from Newgraham for $51.21. The steel is 1095 which won't keep an for quite as long as D2 but will sharpen up again much more easily ! Comes with a Kydex sheath for neck, belt or pocket carry !

I love my Benchmades, you can't go wrong with the activator. I just started buying BRKT and am very impressed with the quality of the products. I have the mini canadian and have thought about the mikro II canadian for neck carry. Now, both of those have less blade than the BM but they also carry smaller and could be carried via pocket carry while the Activator might be a bit big for that. You can't go wrong with either Benchmade or BRKT. Plus the mikro II is stainless and for close to the body carry it might be a better choice than A2 or D2 even.

there's a site I came across recently and I've been looking through their selection, very intresting stuff. anyone heard of ragweed.com? their line of finish knives seem to be the right size and quality for a pretty decent price too.
