On the Wifes Chive #1600blk. The catalog says Tungsten coated blade and handle. The Website lists it as Tungsten blade/Boron handle.

I know they quit making the Boron leeks and switched to Tungsten, but what did they do with the Chives?

If it makes a difference, blade is dated 07 , Feb. of course, lol

Thanks !!

From what I know about Bodycote, Inc. and Kershaw, I think all of the BLK knives are polished Tungsten. They are just called Boron for the recognition factor. Thomas will know definitively, but I think the Boron Carbide coating was phased out.

The newer Boron knives are not as Black as the older ones. Its because the Tungsten is slightly brownish

I find the whole coated blade thing to be kind of confusing. I assume that whatever they put on there is pretty tough. They can call it "super boronuclear perma infinicoat" for all I care. If it makes sense on the blade, I'm good.

It is some good stuff. The only thing that went directly to the metal on my CKT Random Leek was when I opened a can of beef stew with it.

The tab broke off and I was really hungry.
