So bummed!! Windlass Coustille.

Hello, new guy here!

I have been un-employed for a while, and had no extra funds, I was a "Rennie" (Renaissance Fair Enthusiast) when I was a kid, did not have any money then either.
So just last year I got back into archery, I have a nice longbow now, and some killer garb, I bought a pretty nice "Short Viking Axe/Hawk" and want a short sword now, like shorter than usual, like a Coustille, I really like the look of the "Windlass Coustille", sadly I think they have been discontinued, can't find one anywhere, not even "Kult Of Athena".
I have been looking at the "Strongblade Coustille" anyone have any experience with them?
I don't really like the Pommel, or the guard that much, but I guess I cannot be as picky now. :grumpy:
Does the "Strongblade Temper" really make a difference, or is it crap regardless, also would you know if the Pommel will screw off to be replaced at all, how about the Guard, easily removeable? Are there other options for replacing those parts?
I am just curious, I have a new job, making some decent money, but not enough to go crazy, the price point is right, at that price I can afford to spend a little more and customize a little.
Also, (Sorry For The Long Post) does anyone have a Windlass Coustille they could bear to part with, or know a super Ninja secret on where to get one?

Oh, also any other options are very much appreciated, I would even consider a "Short Sword" with a nice look and a good price, it will mostly be a decoration, but I do not buy blades that I cannot use if need be.
 
A few other options you might consider:

Scorpion Swords. I think I can provide a link because the maker is a knifemaker member here (Chris Palmer, who you might know better as the archery expert for Top Shot): http://traditionalarcherybows.com/

Hanwei and Kris Cutlery both may have some cool options. Kris Celtic Sword, for instance.

Himalayan Imports (they have a subforum on here) has a couple options you might be interested in (Spear vala, which is a smatchet-like blade, and the Manjushree sword, if you can find one).

And, of course, you could try going custom. Depending on the maker and the design, you might be able to get something fairly inexpensively.

Keep up the search though, you can usually find what you're after if you have patience and persevere. As CS07 says, Chris Palmer at Scorpion might be the man you wanna talk to here. He does great custom swords so he will no doubt be able to knock one up for you. Good luck, hope you find what you're after.

That's it! Price went up though, guess that's to be expected when something is discontinued. :( I'll check out the Scorpian Swords, rather have something made by an individual. :)
 
That's probably for the best mate. It might be that bit dearer to have a sword custom made but Chris is known for being fair in his prices and his work will unquestionably be miles ahead of anything Windlass could mass produce. Plus it will be uniquely "Your" sword which is pretty darn cool.
