I just picked up this little kwaiken styled unit from the classifieds here on Bladeforums, and I just couldn't be happier!

Such a sweet little knife, so light and thin and the sheath is really well made as well, providing completely unobtrusive carry. The 1080 blade is etched, (I think I'm going to change that by polishing it) and the nylon cord is wrapped over rattlesnake skin making for a fairly unique look.

I love all my knives, and am so happy to add this little buddy to the family!

Props to Serge Panchenko for making such a nice little knife!

yeah, it was only a hundred bucks!:)

Lorien,

I think Serges work is top shelf and one of the best values in the industry right now. Congrats to you on a fine acquiring such a fine little knife, and congrats to serge on acquiring a fine customer :)

Nice score. Very cute indeed. But why would you want to polish out the etch?

Kind regards,

Jos

Jos and Joe- to me, an etched blade is essentially the same as a sand blasted one, only you can see the temper line. It is nice looking if the knife never is used, however with use, staining becomes a problem. A polished surface can be cleaned much more easily, and stains less. Etching a blade is de rigeur these days, and it makes sense because people will buy it and it's less work. But I do like a polished blade personally.

you guys were right about the etch. I don't think that polishing will do much for this knife and I quite like the look this little guy is getting with use.

I've been utilizing this knife constantly, and recently returned from a few days of roughing it in the forest where this kwaiken served pretty much non stop duty.

It's a hair popper, this one is:thumbup:

Nice buy there Lorien.

I love Serge's work, it's original, cleanly made and has that 'razor sharp' look to it.

Thanks for sharing it with us.:)

Congrats, Lorien !
Very nice work, Serge !
Have ya' sharpened or stropped it yet, Lorien ?

Doug

hey Doug, yes. This blade is so hard I have to use diamond to get it to where I want it.
It was pretty sharp when I got it, but now it's about as sharp as it's gonna get. Seemed to me like Serge hand finished the edge bevel, which is actually pretty rare for a lot of knives, but I really prefer it to a machine finished edge. Such a tiny bevel too. Great geometry, and a hell of a cutter.

every day buddy:)
