So did the HEST/F delay prevent 1st run QC issues like the ZT 0551 rusty liners??

I remember reading all about the various delays with the HEST/F. I was on a list to get one when it was hyped for the last 6 months and to be delivered before Christmas. I remember calling them and they said they were really trying to get the HEST/F out before Christmas. Then I remember them suggesting that the 2 month delay was because they didnt want a obvious quality control issues and the ZT 0551 rusty liners were mentioned. Now that that the 1st run of HEST/F are out and the obvious exposed blade tip issue rears its head......Did the HEST/F 2 month delay really eliminate 1st run production problems or was it just inevitable???

I'm told they are still addressing the issues at Lionsteel and DPx now. I cancelled all the orders I had (three countin the LE) and got refunds.

I was on the list for a long time but after Christmas I removed my name from the list and channeled my money into a more tangible high end blade. It does beg the question if the HEST/F delay had anything to do with stepping up quality control or is quality control issues a fact of 1st run knives???

I was lucky enough to get mine before they got pulled back to Italy. And so far i think its a great knife. And fortunately mine didn't have the blade sticking out much, I can get a finger nail in there if I try but IMO it doesn't affect the quality of the knife at all.
I think the main reason there were problems and delays were due the fact that it was dpx's first folder.

They charged you before the knife shipped?

Hell yeah. Comeback alive had $254.85 of my money for 3 months and Knifeworks charged me $175 for a preordered production for about 2-3 months. Knifeworks was kind enough not to charge anything before it shipped.

I had $430 tied up in knives that never showed up before I cancelled. The balances were paid in full on the first statements too.

I'm shopping for what to spend the refunds on now! ;)

I think there were many variables involved in the delay that we may never know about. I do think the fact that this is DPx's first folder is a big factor. Ultimately though, I think it's going to be one very nice knife for the price. Especially the production version. I have one of the LE's that had to go back to Lionsteel for fine tuning. I have no doubt that it will be a nice knife to own. It should be in my hands by the end of February and I don't feel that a two month delay is all that bad for knife companies. The fact that all the delays and issues became very public via the forum setting is a whole other story.

I will probably buy a production once they are out and complete as far as issues go but I lost the religion over the past 4 months waiting on the debut.
