I ordered a hawk from H B forge and the customer service was excellent. They were very friendly and answered all questions in a timely fashion. Where the ball was dropped was with UPS. This was my birthday present to my self and UPS tracking states that they delivered my package on this past Thursday however they state that they left the package outside on my porch. For one I don't have a porch. Second I live on a busy street where anyone could have taken my package. A claim has already been filed but I am still angry with UPS for their practice of knock and drop. I personally do not truly believe that they even delivered the package as we have a dog that alerts to anytime anyone knocks at the door and my wife does not work and is home plus my son was visiting that week and was at home too. Now I have to wait another 8-10 days to find out if UPS is going to find my package or refund my money. This has turned in to a very bitter deal for me. Like I said I do not put one bit of blame on HB Forge as they fulfilled everything as promised and they have even begun making another order for me. I am totally happy with their service just wish I could have played with my toy for my BDay. :grumpy:

UPS likes to leave stuff at the end of my driveway. One of these days I'll probably end up running over a package before I notice it's there. They used to set it on the little woodpile on my covered porch and FedX still does but now it's just left in a plastic bag down by the road.

Bummer! "Signature required" seems to be the only way UPS, FedEx, Purolator, Dicom etc work around here. LOP (leave on porch) is a designation given only to folks that sign-off beforehand and/or have a 'scan-ticket' decal pasted on their door. Hopefully the thief will either enjoy the tool (not likely) or will broker it around well enough to see that somebody else gets use of it and a few tokes or snorts change hands. With some luck it will be recovered, and not in a back alley in back of somebody's skull. Police auctions in your area ought to be good for a hoot.

I frequently have packages left on my porch. I've never had a problem. And an occasional problem would still be better than having to pick up in person every time.

That said, it does sound like UPS screwed up this time. They likely put it on the wrong porch. Or perhaps it was stolen - I don't know your neighborhood. Whenever possible I use the United States Postal Service. They're still the best value and the best service. And messing with the US mail is a federal crime. That's a deterrent.

I think I live in a decent neighborhood not the greatest but definitely not the worst. There is a lot of traffic that comes up and down my street. I have the high school and middle school two blocks away. I am leaning towards the driver took it to the wrong house with the statement left on the porch, as I don't have a porch. I have never had this problem before with Fed ex but UPS has done this before the item just did not end up missing. I have ordered another and requested signiture required for this one.

if this happens more than once may I suggest that you request that you have to sigh for it for now on??

That really stinks, sorry to hear of your woes.
I've been fortunate that I haven't had that problem yet but I do everything I can to avoid UPS, to many late deliveries and notices left while I was home waiting for my packages to arrive claiming I wasn't there. I have had the best luck with USPS and do all I can to use them when available from a retailer.
Maybe you can celebrate a late birthday when it arrives with a nice camping trip as an excuse to use your new toy.
