So, do I understand California laws correctly??

My understanding is that if it is a folder, no matter how large, it can be conceled or carried anywhere on your body as long as it is in the CLOSED position...

And a fixed blade knife is only legal to carry if the blade is under 3 inches, and not concealed(like a neck knife)--Not too sure about the fixed blade laws...

So, do these laws encompas all of California, or does each county have its own certain restricitons??

I travel between San Diego and Los Angeles a lot, so I'd appreciate any specific laws that are applicable there..

Thanks in advance..

Any size folder can be carried and concealed as long as it is not locked in the open position, and it's not a switchblade, gravity knife, or balisong.

Any size or style fixed blade, of any length, can be carried but not concealed. Even a neck knife under your shirt could be a felony, so make sure that all fixed blades are not concealed on your person.

That's state law. Some cities and/or counties have their own rules. I know that Oakland and Berkeley have flat 3" limits. LA has some sort of 3" limit on open carry, but I don't know much about it.

If this doesn't answer all of your questions, let us know.

Is there somewhere I can go to get difinitive answers on the laws between Los Angeles to San Diego??

Thanks.

The problem is the multitude of jurisdictions between say Santa Barbara and San Diego. What is acceptable in San Diego might be illegal in Santa Monica. Get thee to a law library? As far as I know there is no fixed blade length limit in San Diego.

JASON- having problems looking up knife laws for Fresno, CA on that law page. Looked through them but don't see any. Any help?

IBRATT343 - There may not be any. I followed the Fresno link, searched for "knife" and found nothing. This leads me to believe that Fresno doesn't have any knife laws. A lot of cities (e.g., San Diego, La Jolla, Santa Maria, & Poway) don't have any knife laws either. This is good news, it means that all you have to worry about are state laws.

After reviewing the local law link above, it is clear that I will be an unknowing criminal regardless of my best efforts at being a law abiding citizen. It is rather discouraging. During my long daily commute, I alternate between legal and illegal. It seems that little freedoms remains. It is just that many laws are not consistently enforced, or the infractions discovered. We should all be placed in jail and our homes confiscated. California, especially the Northern part of the state is beyond understanding.
