Do you guys know what these are and what's good about them?

have 2 gallons of those frozen, ready for processing...

just need to figure out the best way to process them and use them for ... something
 
grate/shred them, dry them, use in tea.
throw in blender, use in smoothies -- adds tartness
freeze, then thaw and use in wine or mead instead of malic or tannic acid.
 
how do you deal with any random prickly bits?

or do you trim them 1 by 1 by 1 by 1...
 
I have read that heating them by making tea or cooking them down can ruin most all of the benefits (not sure if its true). We pluck em off the bush out front and snack on them during the late summer/early fall when they are bright orange/red. Getting all the fuzzy seeds out from the center takes a little doin, but my boys love it (they get to use the BK14 to cut them open...).
 
Sorry it took me a while to get back to this...a lot going on for me right now. But yes, rose hips and yes high vitamin c. Lots of info on the net and at the library. I'll be planting some of the rosa rugosas soon.
