So I am debating finally getting a junglas over an RTAKII and one of the main things I like with the Esee is no finger choil but then I came across an RTAKII w/o one so now I am confused:confused: They both have the same model number too. Of course now that I have laid eyes on the junglas with the dark earth blade it is really calling to me,lol

Maybe the top one is a newer version, but the one I had did have a choil. The top one doesn't look right to me though, something seems off. Where did you get the picture?

I have an RTAK II and mine definitely has a choil.

+1 Mine too. Purchased in the last 18mos...made of 5160 steel. I seem to remember some of the older 1095 blades may have been w/o choil...although not entirely sure?

I also remember reading of some fairly recent buyers of RTAK II's buying/getting possible fakes (forget the source) that were slightly smaller and thinner blade stock than the real thing so...caveat emptor.

The old RTAK's looked totally different with no choil; the RTAKII definitely has a choil and it's a big one too. I love my RTAK II.

Looks Photoshopped to me, look at the underside edge of the handle, kinda blocky. I've owned 2 RTAK IIs and both had choils, unfortunately the handles are a bit tall (top to bottom) for my hands, always feels like it's gonna come out my hand when chopping.

So do you guys think its worth the extra $$ for the junglas? Ive asked it on here before and the consensus was yes, if for no other reasons that the heat treat and customer service. I didn't know they were making the RTAKII in 5160 now, I thought they were all 1095. And I do like 5160...
