I just called Harbor Freight to ask them which band saw would be best for what I want to do. IT WAS AN INDIAN GUY! He kept asking me for the item number. I said very politely, "sir, I don't yet have an item number. I am calling to see which band saw you guys would recomend for my application." He says, "do you have the item numbner sir?" I said, "no I don't. I don't know which one I want to buy yet. That's why I'm calling. I would like some suggestions for models which will meet my needs." ...and THEN he actually says to me, "I'm wery sorry sir. I do not know how a band saw works and cannot advice you on which would be best. Do you have an item number?" I said, "so you're telling me that I just called the Harbor Freight customer service line, a customer service line where people would call to get information about tools available from Harbor Freight, and you don't know anything about the tools your company sells? Is there anyone there that does?" "No sir. I'm wery sorry. Do you have an item number?" I said, "No. I don't have an item number. I will not have an item number, because I will never buy anything from Harbor Freight. F@#$ you." click. It's one thing to outsource your IT customer service line to India, a place where Information Technology is big industry and the field of which most people of the region choose, despite the frustration from not being able to understand what the hell they are saying. It's another thing to outsource your customer service line to a group of people who know absolutely nothing about the product simply because you heard from your IT buddy that Indian CS lines are cheaper, which is I'm sure what it boils down too... oh AND you still don't know what the hell they are saying!
