I know a lot of people are anti-Ontario Knife Co. due to the conflict between Ontario and RAT. I am also pretty reluctant to give Ontario my money. My dilema was that I didn't want to fund a company that pissed me off by being a bully, but I really wanted to try out an RTAK-II. I've had my eye on them since well before the conflict.
If I purchase one from a retailer, I'm helping Ontario, BUT!! if I purchase one from someone who already owns one and needs to sell it, well then I'm just helping out a fellow forumite!
Plus, the RTAK-II was originally designed by the RAT brothers so it's still the brainwork of good people.
So, I bought the RTAK-II that TacBlade had for sale. It's pretty damn cool. I re-shaped the handle a little already, but I really want to shave the tang down a little and completely re-handle it. The big handle is nice, but it's just a little bigger than I want. I immediately took it out and started chopping everything with it. The factory edge was ok, but after i got done with the belt sander and my stones, this thing flies through anything you swing it at. I dig it. It's a fun big chopper. It'll get a lot of abuse. I'll take some pictures of it after I re-handle it.
