So, how is the Gerber mini covert for a cheap EDC?

I just bought one of these on a whim to beat around on and use for anything and everything. I chose the matte grey blade, liner lock version (non-F.A.S.T). I paid about $31. I like the design and the size, but I'm most concerned about the liner lock. How does it hold up? I had a gerber mini swagger that I gave away, and that seemed to have a decent lock and I was overall happy with it, so I am hoping that the covert will be similar quality. I'm not expecting a whole lot, but want a cheap, useable, fairly reliable blade. I get sick of buying nicer knives and not using them. Although though the gerber was a few $$ more than I wanted to pay, I figured that if I was going to buy a cheap knife to actually use, I would rather buy one with a brand-name than a no-name so I could at least give their warranty dept. a try if the knife does fail.

So, if anyone has any experiences with this particular model or other gerber knives and their warranty in general, Please let me hear it! I need something to do while i wait for my new knife.:D
 
Its a Gerber. Not much better than the cheap "no-name" knives you speak of. Mystery steel. There are better knives out there for what you paid, but I really don't know much about that knife in general. I have one Gerber I was gifted, and well it sucks. $31 is not bad considering the msrp is $47. Good luck with it, but you will find a lot of Gerber hate in this forum, so be prepared.

I strongly agree. Its academic now, but for 30 bucks one could do way better. The Kabar Dozier Folding Hunters and the RAT-1 come immediately to mind...
