So how many use their custom blades and what do you use to maintain them????

I was wondering what people use to maintain their custom, user blades?

I have a few phenominal pieces of functional art that pains me not to use! I have already used the spotted san mai damascus bowie from Andrew Takach to finish off a doe I shot a while back. That did however leave a little bit of a stain on the blade (even though the blade was thoroughly cleaned after I arrived home).
So what do you use to keep that damscus or other steel stain free from use?

Thank you!

Very Respectfully,
Stefan

This has protected my blades and guns from Alaska to Africa and every place in between

I have pretty good results with Autosol, for cleaning off the schmutz.

I just let the blades on the ones I use turn dark. I like em that way. Just oil the joints. :)

I coat my blades with butchers wax before use. When I am in the field i carry ballistol oil when i am done and when i get home, recoat with butchers wax.

This Pekka Tuominen puukko is my most used fixed blade. I use mineral oil for the blade, Tru-Oil for the birch bark handle, and Sno-Seal for the sheath. It has worked well so far. The leather, birch bark, and brass furniture shows the most usage. The blade still looks really good because I strop it often on a charged piece of leather.
