So how old is my Delica?

So I was out at a show in Portland and I found a well worn all stainless Delica. I noticed that it was a fairly old model because it was tapped for one pocket clip position (tip down), the edges around the handle were a lot more square compared to the newer ones, plus the blade was in AUS6 with Seki City stamped on the other side.

I believe that makes it a Delica 2. I just had an opportunity for an Endura 2 that was very similar in materials and features

Looks like the tip has been re-profiled--fairly common mod following tip damage. Those early Delicas had very pointy tips that would snap off if used to pry something. I miss the pointy blades but I understand why they are now a little shorter and a little less pointy.

That is actually a C05 standard, predecessor to the delica. As for age I'd guess 1990-95.

I called yesterday about getting a re-blade, but I haven't heard back yet.

I don't think they can "re-blade" it, as in replacing the blade... but they'll give it a nice once over and sharpening.

Might want to look into a third-party crafstman here to stone wash that handle too!

You don't need to send it in. Aus6 is easy to sharpen.

Scrub out the knife with hot soapy water and a toothbrush...dry with paper towels.

The stainless scales will respond to sandpaper, 400 and 600 grit can give them a nice finish, anything above that gives it more polish. However, make sure you go with the sandpaper in one direction (e.g. down the handle.)

I'm thinking then I'll just order a new pocket clip and then etch the scales, possibly with the Mayhem Incorporated logo (my sideshow's name) or something interesting on there.
