Just curious on the rust resistance of INFI. The Mean Street has now become one of my everyday carries and with summer coming how is sweat, rain going to effect it? Is it sufficient to just wipe it down once a week with Tuf-cloth?
Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Outside of a dog, a Knife is man's best friend. Inside a dog it is very, very Dark.

INFI will rust if left wet and unprotected. It tends not to develop black rust nor does it pit excessively. The few times I have seen this the rust was light and came off easily with either a normal cloth or at worse with a worn green scotchbrite pad. The edge degredation due to rusting is much less severe than the surface marring.

If you clean the blade daily and use a decent rust inhibitor then you should not have a problem. You might want to also use a similar product on the inside of the sheath. It has the side effect of making draws smoother and reduces the noise as well.

Thanks for the info Cliff. Is tuf-cloth good enough or have you found something better. Especially on the Sheath.

I a use Marine Tuf-Cloth which is almost two years old. I have applied Tuf-Glide to the cloth a few times to keep it wet so the coating it applies is nice and thick. It has worked well on my blades. I have also used it on several pieces of iron and steel at times and left it exposed to the elements to see how much protection it offers.

There are currently two pieces of a 1095 machete on the front porch. One bit was coated with Tuf-Glide about one month ago and another bit was left bare. The section that was untreated developed rust within hours of being left in the rain. The coated section still has no rust on it. It has seen rain, snow and hail, as well as the sun on a rare occasion.
