So, how'd everyone do at Blade?

The show was a bit slow for many makers, unless you are a known name. The suppliers were making great deals because sales were slow.Universal Agencies had all their MOP at 1/2 price.I paid $48 for an unbelievable set of exhibition grads scales. The MOP Company had a silent auction on a world record size pair of black lip scales, (something like 5.5X1.5") .They looked like a rainbow, totally awesome.First three bids were $400,450,600.I was told by Steve Ozaleski that they would go for $1200-1500.I got a nice whole oosik for $30,some nice damascus from Devin, - Oh,Yeah, and a half log of primo snakewood for $200.I may be offering some of it on the "for sale" page.Ran into some of the bigger makers who buy wood from me and booked three large orders for my select Asian black palm.Sold enough knives to pay for the show, trip and all the stuff I bought.
Found out that 3M is now making the trizac belts in colors so you don't have to try to read the worn off A-?? mark inside it.Bought all that Ken McFall had with him.
I was minorly involved in the sale of a rare set of 5 knives for $35,000.00. The buyer and seller may not want the details given out,so I won't list the info here.
Had a great time. - Stacy

I got to put a few faces with names but didnt get to see everyone I had on my list. I wanted to get materials but ran out of day. Always next year! :D

Like Stacy, we did enough business at the show to pay for our table and trip down to the show, but more importantly, we had a great time meeting everyone! Also, handed out hundreds of catalogs, so that will hopefully generate orders for the next few months. Next year, looks like I'm going to get two tables, one for refractory, and one for my J.S. test knives. :) I'm going to get started working on the performance test knife this week...gotta get back to bending and breaking them again. :)

It was great to meet everyone at the show, hope everyone had a safe trip home!

:)

Well, ya got $32 of my money. I had to have a couple of those pyroceramic platens for my Bader. ;) :)

Hey Danbo, it was great to see you at the show! Sorry it took me a second to place you when we first met, you don't look anything like your picture in your avatar! :D :D

:)

Great show, made over 2 grand plus another 4 in orders with purvayers.
It was great to meet everyone who stopped by. only have a few pieces of oosic left. If you didnt make it try next year. :) :)

Like Stacy said, unless you're well known it was slow. I didn't sell anything but had a great time. Wish I could have had a chance to get around and meet more people. It was a great experience. Very overwhelming.

I've been home about 15 minutes now. I still feel like I'm on the plane. Got to finally place alot of names to faces but there's a few I still didn't get to meet or just didn't know who the heck they were. Friday was my day. Sold half of what I took and not a thing on Saturday or Sunday but thats the way things go. Got a few supplies while I was there. Now I just need to recope........

Had a great time getting to meet with all the people I talk with face 2 face.

Bought a little bit of nice wood, some sheep horn, and gave Rob Frinks a little bit of scratch.

Joining the A.B.S. was the highlight for me. Now, reforming their standards to accept and judge stuff that's not as shiney and purdy will be a challenge :)

Just kidding.

Hope everyone has made it home safe.

Had a great time spent a lot of time preparing some information for articles. It was great to meet some of you Bought myself a pyro ceamic plate a bunch of handle material. It was good to see Kim Breed after buying his DVDhe has given me a great deal of follow up information at both shows he has been at.

I was greatley disappointed i ordered my shirts with my scren name on them but they didn't arrive till just today alot good that did me . Worse yet I ordered them April 24th.

Anyway I look forward to placing more names with faces next year.

I got the new micarta slabs small sebenza. On the plane ride home, I sat next to the gold medalist in wrestling from last years olympics, his name is Cael Sanderson or something like that. Devin sold a lot of damascus.

Didn't buy any knives, but a bunch of supplies. Some steel for bangin on, and a bunch of pretty wood. And a bunch of inspiration, more valuable than anything else I think.
I also got to meet and talk to some great folks, and got scads of good advise. It never fails to amaze me how helpful and forthcoming knifemakers are. A great bunch of folks, here and generally.

I saw striper28's scagel inspired folders. As good in person as in the pics on the forum.

I was walking quickly with my wife on the way to another makers table when i caught them in the corner of my eye. I stopped so fast my wife about ran me over. Those knives have got some serious style points!!

Raymond Richards work is just amazing. Great balance, clean even forging, his patina finish is awesome. And a heck of a nice guy to boot!

Scott of razorback-knives had some good solid knives that would stand up to all the hard work you could throw at them I'm sure. I wish I had remembered to get some good pics to post for ya.

The new table location didn't hurt either. Now I have to start designing for the Chicago show!
Cool! I will definitely be making that show this year, so I'll stop by and say hello! Maybe get a few pointers if my folders haven't come together by then! ;)
