So, I accidentally bought a G10 Caly 3

I usually don't win bids on the very large auction site. I usually get out bid in the last few seconds. It happens and I expect it.

Well, last night I put what I thought was a mediocre bid on a LNIB G10 Caly 3.

I won.

And this was on the same day I got a lightly used Caly 3.5 in the mail. I traded one of my seldom used Benchmades for it - from another site - not on here.

So, I now have a G10 Caly 3.5 and a Caly 3 in the mail. I'll post pics of the pair when I have both of them.

I really like the Caly 3.5 so far. It feels great in the hand. It's not as big as I thought it would be. I tend to prefer smaller knives. (Delica over Endura) so I can't wait for my Caly 3!

My personal favourite spyderco. It's the perfect size for an EDC gents folder. I love the deep carry wire clip. Enjoy!

I really want to get a superblue caly 3.. but i also want to get a barong, or a khukuri, and a sebenza, and a 0566... so many to choose and pay for!

Congrats, the G10 Caly is one of my favorite Spydercos, thatès why I bought two of the Caly 3s when I heard they were discontinued. I also got a G10 Caly 3.5 for good measure.

Caly3 is the great knife, but I stopped using mine after I got Caly3.5.

I said I post a pic when i got it. Here's a shot of both, after I moved the clips to the correct side of course ;)

(It's an iPhone pic.)

My first impression is that I really like them both a lot. The extra height of thumb ramp over the Chaparral gives a better feeling of control of the blade. But then I would never use my Chaparral for heavy cutting in the first place.

All three knives designed by Sal, the Chaparral, the Caly 3 and the Caly 3.5 are my favorites right now. I just don't see how it could get any better. I wish I'd started collecting with these knives.

Thank you Mr. Glesser for designing such wonderful cutting tools.

Nice. I carried my 3.5 all weekend after carrying a Hinderer for the past couple months. I had forgotten how much I liked it. My desire to get the 3 is strong again.

Like many others, I feel the Caly 3 is one of Spyderco's finest executions...perfection for EDC. Unlike many others, I am not a fan of the 3.5 at all. People asked for a bigger blade and Sal, to his credit, gave them what they wanted. 3" of blade length is all I need, 3.5" doesn't look right to me.

To those that have both, what do you prefer between the Caly 3 and the Sage 1? Particularly the CF Caly 3. I had a Sage 1 for a couple weeks, and though it was really nice, I had to move it to fund some other stuff.

Sal not just gave people what they want, he designed near perfect knife, which has almost the same handle like Caly3, but .5" longer blade. Just out of curiosity try to cut an apple on halves using Caly3 and Caly3.5 and you will see benefits of Caly3.5 right away.
Couple month ago I gave away my Caly3.5 to a friend and started to carry Caly3. I love the knife, but after a week I bought another Caly3.5. It is in my pocket today. I have backup piece as well. Just in case. Actually in 2014 I gave away two Caly3.5. Both new owners are very happy and carry them every day.
IMHO Caly3.5 is one of the best production EDC knives ever made.

I have both and carry the CF Caly 3 more than the Sage. I think the Sage is a little more comfortable in-hand, but the ergos of the Caly are also very good. The two things that puts the Caly over the Sage for me are the slimmer design and the zdp-189 steel. The Caly practically disappears in the pocket and the blade takes an excellent edge and holds it for a very long time.

I bought a Sage 1 and Chaparral together. I ended up selling the Sage here. I preferred the lock on Chaparral.

Between the Sage 1 and Caly 3 - for me - Caly 3 all day long.

You won't believe this but I just bought another Caly 3 G-10.

I'm going to stop bidding now....
