and what RC- knife do I get? It has to be a great camping and hiking knife. It has to be a good hunting knife! I don't know if you can hunt in Yosemite but in other places you can. It has to baton great, I want to be able to make different bush craft things. I have heard the RC-4 excels in this area, so give me your opinions.

i would got with the RC-4... it is an awesome all around knife, capable of many tasks... you will not be dissapointed... get an Izula too... they're a great pair..:)

though the RC-4 would make a good hunting knife, HUNTING IN YOSEMITE IS A BIG NO, NO... it is a Natl. park... it is an amazing place you will love it.... i have been there many times and have done a lot of climbing there over the years...

No doubt what mtnfolk mike says: these 2 blades would keep you very happy on your trip......:D

I don't think you can hunt in Yosemite. You can fish though. Fire may be limited to wood you bring into the park to be burned in established fire rings. You'll have to leave the visions of batoning through sequoias behind.

You won't need more than a SAK and a Jetboil stove, but take an RC-3 or Izula along as well.

I know you can't hunt in a National Park. You can fish. But I thought they decided that concealed weapon carry permit holders can carry a firarm in parks?

Have a good time in Yosemite. I had the good fortune to spend two weeks there many years back. Only Glacier has better scenery IMHO.

The legislation allows CCW starting next spring IIRC. So no, you can't carry just yet.

lol okay okay you can't hunt in Yosemite! :D I didn't know! lol I can't wait though! what was that people were talking about with concealed weapons? You can bring a knife right?

depends what county you are in, some counties in CA are practically shall issue.

also, i would take an izula, RC-3 or HEST to yosemite. if you are doing any hiking i feel the RC-4 is a bit heavy and you can get along fine with the smaller blades.

Yosemite is AWESOME! So is the RC-4. I'm envious! I used to live in Sacramento, and would camp there as much as I could. Truly one of the coolest places I've been. Enjoy -

Depends where you go in Yosemite. In the backcounty below the timber line batoning and sawing of deadwood is perfectly fine. As you say existing fire rings must be used but there are many. Bring your sawvivor and rc4 or larger!

In yosemite valley bring your izula only. You might need it to open a ketchup package or scrape off a price tag from a half dome snow globe.

:)

Remember no matter what you bring, pay attention to the weather, (especially this time of year) depending on where in the park you are the weather can change drastically and quickly.

Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places on earth! Climb Half dome while you are there it is worth the effort.
