Today is my birthday. I came home to two presents.....an Endura and a sharpmaker! I have a badass wife!!

Happy Birthday. Congrats on the goodies and a great wife that feeds your addiction. Now, let's see some pics. :D

Happy birthday, and those are amazing gifts! Just be warned, once you own one it doesn't stop. What variety of Endura did she give you?

Since I didn't specify, the Endura is the black, plain edge Endura 4. I'm fairly conservative when it comes to handle colors and she's aware of that.

Very nice, I think that's a great place to start. My first Spyderco was a black handled plain edge Delica 4 with the standard saber grind. Pure vanilla.

When you choose to expand your Spyderco collection (and i emphasize when), you should have a look at the Sage series.

My next if I so decide will likely be a ffg delica.

Nice... my first Spyderco was the FFG Delica 4. The Sharpmaker, though, is great because it makes all of your knives perform fantastically.

What a neat little kit that is. I have an old Hiram Smith kit and practiced to the point where I could put a decent edge on a knife. The sharpmaker, though, has already allowed to go from "decent " to "scary sharp ". I put an edge on my wife's mini grip last night that had her, frankly, a little freaked out. She kept saying "that's so COOL! " over and over.
