So I started out with my stripper and let it sit for about ten minutes before applying more and giving it another five before going to town with an old dull knife and a scraper on the coating. After getting it all clean I started with some 250 grit carbide paper and a block and cleaned it all up before moving to 500 grit then 1200 to polish it up followed by a rub down with some polishing compound. The grind lines, dimples and machining marks are a little deep on this one, so I'm going to have to have it bead blasted before putting on a full polish on it....it's pretty good in a way only a user can :D. I might keep it D/C if it looks cool enough as I could always satin it in 20 minutes any time afterward . Just need to find someone to blast it for me now.....

Here's some pics:

Ok... It's only worth $400 now, but I'll give ya $500 'cause that's the type of giver that I am... ;) :p :D:D That's lookin' pretty SWEET there!!! I like it nekkid! :D:thumbup::thumbup:

Nice! Now we just need some chop-off pics between the SHBM and the Siegle! C'mon, you know you want to:cool:

awesome blades. are the shbm's better at chopping then the fbm's? sorry, i don't have any, and i'm trying to decide if i want to eventually get one.

Looks good man  Was that the smooth coating? I had a tough time stripping that stuff off with the Jasco Premium Stripper. I even tried acetone and lacquer thinner with no luck :( Ended up just straight up sanding it all off ;)

I think you have something there Walt.....

I guess that depends on how you define "better" it's really what you want. In my opinion the SHBM can be used for brush clearing, chopping, limbing, splitting and smaller tasks and do well at all of them but be the master of none....the FBM is more of a chopper/splitter for me at least...it really comes down to personal taste....the 1/300's now: That's a completely different story :D

Thanks! It WAS the smooth coating and it WAS A MF to get off!!! I used a knife to scrape as the scraper wasn't getting any purchase :p I don't think I'd do it again...I'd probably just WEAR all the coating off :D:thumbup:

Yeah, I noticed that the older smooth coating is a pain to remove with the stripper. The new coatings just bubble up in a few minutes and literally just fall right off. But that old coating...... man I even left the stripper over the smooth coating overnight and NADA!!!:eek:

2 Q's for ya... What was in the Talon & Lanyard hols prior to stripping the blade, and is it ME... Or did those handle lighten up considerably??? How'd you do that? :)

Haha, I just thought it was because I was low on stripper and it was old.....no one likes old strippers so I figured the SHBM felt the same :p

Haha, I was hoping no one would notice that...I was stupid and thought the coating would pop off quick enough for the tape I put on to protect the choil and butt from the stripper would hold (and not melt like it did :D) and I could hose it off real quick so I could get a 2 tone look. I thought that would be cool...especially as I've never seen anyone do it before. The handles DID lighten up...the stripper cleans micarta...took the stains right out. If dish soap doesn't do the trick....stripper will ;)

Hahahaha.... That is too funny! I was thinking exactly the same thing.

No, they are not better choppers. Given equal edge geometry, the FBM will hit much harder since it is much more knife.

Paul, it's looking good.

Dang bro....that's a real nice lineup! Hey....that Siegle is very cool. PM coming your way!:D

Did some side by side comparisons of the 1/300 VS the Rambo knife.....uh...the Rambo knife won by a large margin....biggest difference: The Rambo knife requires a Rambo arm...while not Rambo, I'm a bigger guy that's pretty strong and it STILL wore me down a bit....on the flip side it made the BM feel like a feather and I was killin with it! I couldn't pack the RN around though but it's fun for around the camp/house or just some plain old destruction.
