and I cant believe why I waited so long to get one..

however I have some "problems" with it
firstly, why does it have 3 different kinds of screws in it?
torx for the body, hex for the pivot and pozidriv for the clip..
imho that's not really maintenance-friendly
anyone got an idea where I can find replacement torx screws for the pivot and clip?

secondly, I thought it would be a perfect match with my surefire L1. However I think the millie is a bit too big for it (or the L1 too small for the millie)

so now I have to either get a para-military or a bigger surefire... :D

That's the knife's way of saying
'don't mess with me unless you know what you're doing!'

:D

I was considering a E1B surefire for my military. I doubt it wont be big enough. The mili rides very well in the pocket, and a 4" flashlight should fit the other pocket just fine. BTW surefire offers a 20% discount if you are military, just throwing that out there.

It's pretty easy to go to Home Depot and get a set that works on all the screw sizes and it only costs $7.

I'm more looking for an online dealer since the home depot-like stores around here don't carry torx..

Sorry, just noticed that you're from Belgium:o. Welcome to the forums:). BTW, Benchmade has a torx screwdriver set that can be bought on eBay pretty easily. I think it's around $12 US.

As stated above, probably a good idea to leave the knife alone and just enjoy it...you won't have many issues with it.

Torx screws can often be had at/from electronic parts stores.

As far as stand-offs go, remember that the backspacer does add some rigidity to the knife.

Congrats on your knife Qrt! I don't have the info you need but I just had to say congrats. :D

Just wanted to say congrats on your new Military. Give it a little time and you'll love it.

Thanks for the congrats guys!

--> this is GOLD advice

however I'm the type of guy that likes to fiddle around with things...
so yesterday evening I decided to take the millie apart to clean and oil the pivot area. No problems until I tried to screw back the last little torx screw for the body. see pic lol

so now I really need a replacement torx screw and they don't have this kind at knifekits. :(

I'd say buy a few more Milis, that way you'll always have a reliable source for spare parts - that's what I did

pretty lame joke, I know! :o

congratulations, the Mili is currently my favourite folder
as for the screws, I think you can get some from Spyderco themselves, just shoot them an email

Congrats on your Millie purchase, you"ll use it often.
I have Phillips screws on both of my clips though, not Pozidriv. Wonder if Spyderco uses whatever is at hand?

congrats on the Military; great photo
you might want to call customer service for replacement screw (check spyderco website for phone#)

So, did you cross-thread that screw or did it come out that way.

Looks like it was overtorqued when put in.

it came out that way, the other screws were damaged too but not as bad as the one in the pic. Luckily there was no damage to the thread in the standoffs.
