Im waiting on a real nice custom, so Ive been sitting on my hands on the purchasing front for the past few months
mostly
. Well, the damn dam finally burst and I ordered up several new toys. Just thought Id post about it as an excuse to serve up a little knife-pom
(<-- see what I did there?)
Benchmade 710: now this is the Benchmade Ive heard so many good things about! I have a 940 and its a great knife where fit & finish is concerned, but it came with that infamous lack-lustre edge. The 940 sharpened up without a problem, but kinda took away from the out-of-box wow factor. Not so with the 710spectacular f&f, razor sharp D2, and a helluva deal for less than $150 NIB. The 710 oozes quality in all regards.
Al Mar Ultralight Eagle: slick, smooth, simple yet elegant. Its a little on the pricy-side, but oh-so-worth-it for anyone looking for a large-sized folder for city life. For my mileage, maybe I should have gone with the smaller Falcon, but the Eagle is top-drawer nonetheless.
CRKT Centofante Tribute 2: a nice surprise! Since I went with the Al Mar Eagle, I decided that a smaller gentlemanly folder was in order. I couldnt be happier with the Centofante Tribute: nice splinter-picker tip (reminiscent of the Kershaw Leek,) decent f&f, super light and thin, clipless for deep-pocket carry, good old fashioned nail-nick, handsome polished micarta scales, and very affordable. Im glad I tacked one on to my primary order.
Becker BK-11: I got this one from an awesome BF giveaway and it arrived this week. Love the knife, hate the sheath. New pants and scales are in the works!
Ka-Bar Zombie Killer Kharon tanto: yeah, yeah, the zombie thing... I just really dig the vibrant green scales with black blade. It didnt cost much so I threw one on the order, half-expecting it to be more of a novelty than anything. Plus, Ive never owned a tanto before (always avoided em) so I thought I should at least try one out. The Kharon is actually a very good knife and is even better for the price. Good build quality, smooth to deploy, comes sharp as hell, nice ergos. Dont like the zombie thing? Try a JAB Baconmaker! The jury is still out on the tanto shape we shall see.
Kershaw Zing: my all-time favourite Kershaw. I knew what I was in for before ordering; I just wanted one in orange. Such a happy lookin knife all friendly-like!
Thats it, thats all. Thanks for looking!
