I have been looking at the svord machete for a while , and finally got me one .
Im impressed

I do apologise for cruddy pic , cell phone pic win :)

My mora leuku and izullaII are there for size reference , everything freshly sharpened and oiled and pretty looking for once .

I have been using my mora leuku as my main big blade for a while now , its no slouch for what it is.. i like it , but the svord showed up and i took it out to play some .. cleaned up the vines along the fence line ,split up some kindling for funs , shredded some wood for tinder just because
This is by far not the biggest machete I have used .. but it is the first that unpacked ad well .. it impressed . the weight is right , it fits my hand .. something I really find hard to find in a knife . I did the usual , shaved my arm a bit , shredded some paper , went outside and began clearing the fenceline . everything from grass to vines to branches and shrubs

I like this knife .

I have to do something about the sheath it comes with.. but it does the job , its just getting shredded gradualy as I use it , but thats the only thing that comes close to a negative .

Looks nice, sounds nice from your report. A bit pricey, which is all that's kept me from picking one up. I like the looks of their knives, too. How's the handle? Slippery at all? I can't tell how textured it is from the photo.

The handle is comfy , in my hands its not slippery , but Im still thinking seriously about a lanyard .
I was kinda tired and had sore hands from working on the van earlier , no hot spots or issues with the handle at all tho
Price wise, for me , buying from the US its a whole lot cheaper than buying locally ,even with shipping .. quality wise tho, yeah .. its a whole different class of tool to a regular machete , in my opinion , well worth it .
for me one of the cool things is the way the steel is left with the coloring from the heat treat , the blue where is at spring temper , the traw color where th eblade is harder at the edge .. im hoping it doesnt wear off too fast Im loving that part

I think so as well. It's like it's a "condensed" machete. Super light but chops outside its weight class. The only other similar model out there that I know of is the Mora #333.

Still want to try one of these or the Mora one at some point. They look like a nice light carry.

I've been meaning to get one of those things for a long time now. I really like the looks of them. Good to hear that other people are enjoying them. Will have to finally pick on up sometime.

I love mine! I was lucky enough to get an early one when they had the excellent leather sheath.
good stuff.

At first I was leery of the yellow polyurethane fabric sheaths but I've grown to like the material. It's quite durable and impervious to the elements as well as being about as cut resistant as leather if not more so. It's just ugly as ****. :D

The sheath took a bit of getting used to but its OK , it is tho ,kinda challenged in the looks department

I think I must be getting old .. or I just found knives that work for me

I usually keep a few blades handy for sake of variety

Im liking the svord .. but I dont know really why,the sheath bugs me and tho it chops like a far bigger knife , its in my hands , not so great on finer work , yet , at least this isnt a knife fault really but a user one.. the knife dont have skills, Im sposed to , but its still the one I find myself grabbing to go clear the brush and scrub with around my fence line or to get to the river to go fishing

Paired with the mora lekeu tho .. and a small blade in my pocket, Im set for anything :) Feels like it anyway .

The lekeu is another unique knife .. is thin for a big blade , well thin for a modern big blade , but it does a dam fine job , mine gets used to baton , kitchen duty , butcher duty , shaving up tinder etc .. it does all the stuff i dont like to use a machete for but my izulla is a bit small to do easy its light , it holds a scary sharp edge .. sharp enough i was splitting kindling and looked away at what my little girl was doing and i felt that feeling of blade edge skidding on bone in my finger tip ... the lekeu holds a scary sharp edge .

my izulla ..not much to say there I alternate it with my opinel 10 . they do all the little knife jobs .. took a bit to get used to it but its a tough as hell little fixed blade

it sort of feels like i found what will work best for me , at least for now .

I find that while the Svord does a great job at knife tasks for a machete it definitely has less of a knife-like feel to it than, for instance, the Mora #333 which is sort of in a hybrid class of its own. I love the handle used on the Kiwi line. Very well though out and reminds me of what you'd get if you crossed the grip of an industrial chef's knife with that of a Russo-Caucasian "shashqa" sword.
