So I thought how could you go wrong with a giant piece of 1090 Carbon Steel shaped like machete/short sword. What many may not realize is this knife actually seems to have a lot in common with the old Almogavar blades from Eastern Spain and Western France in the middle ages. Basically a no thrills chopper.
Anyway the thing came dull as a butter knife. But I threw it on a electric grinder and then a work sharp and got a good chopping edge out of it. This isn't something I would use to slice tomatoes or filet a fish with. But it makes quick work out of a 4x4 piece of wood (slightly rotten), thick green brush and limbs, and seems to retain an edge just fine for what it is.
The cloth grip is my only complaint about it, I am thinking 5150 cord for the handle. Other than that I like the knife.
