And I asked my wife which folder of the four types she liked. Each was a large lock back folder, Buck 110, Schrade 7OT, Camillus #11 and Case Hammerhead. She looked them all over and made an observation I had not about the closed blades, the Case she feels has to large a gap from the tang to the handle. In her opinion it would catch on the hand or finger, never occurred to me. Her favorite was the Schrade for smoothness of lines. I thought it interesting that she loved the looks of the Case but put it aside because of the gap. Lol, things that make you go hmm. The others she thought were OK, out of my traditional knives she picked the Buck Lite she bought me in 1985 or 1986 overall. It was fun to get her input.

The first thing I do with a new knife is hand it to my girlfriend. I "collect" flippers, and my favorite measure of how well a knife flips is whether or not my girlfriend can get it open consistently. She is also good at finding hot spots, figuring out the easiest locks to use, and testing ergonomics. She sees as much in 10 seconds as I see in 10 minutes

First thing I do is not tell her a dang thing about buying a new knife because for one that means she will want me to buy her something of equal value and two she doesn't even pretend to care about knives. :)
