...and I'm thinking about picking up either a d'eskabar or a 16. Here's the thing, I already have a 17 and a 14. I'm really loving the 16's drop point (I think I'd like it more than the 17's clip), but I also live on the coast and would love to have something more rust resistant like D2. What do you guys think? Help me please!

I would go with a 9 or a 5. Then sell your 14 and get the 24. I am currently talking myself out of getting a bk15(you know... For the sake of my marriage.) but it is not going well.

I already have a couple of kukris so I'm not too worried about the big knives. I just read the new post in here about the work sharp. Thinking about investing in one of those instead. Anyone use one? Also, can it be used for regrinding and shaping scales?

If I already had a 17, I'd probably go for the 24. I own the 16 & the 24. Both are near perfection in their own way but if you think you'll use the 24 more often (I edc mine) then that's the one to get. You can easily sell your 14 afterward & you'll be halfway to getting your 16 next.

I just love the way Becker-nomics work!!! :D

Also....i can't get both.

What is this crazy talk :D
Sure you can!

Honestly, I think it's a tough call since you already own a 14 and 17. You've already got yourself covered for a variety of tasks...
Now it just comes down to personal preference. What do you want? A 14 that holds up forever? Or a 16 that slices like crazy?
I didn't want to put myself for that dilemma, so I got both (with a few months in between purchases). I did get the 16 first since I already had a 14, but the 24 wasn't available yet at that time...and I didn't own a tweener before, so that made the 'choice' easier (I got 'em both anyway so...).

Ok, I have a 14 and a 16. I have been asking myself the same sort of question. But its been 24 or 15? I really dig the tweeners and to have a 5 in tweener size would just be the sh/t, however, I My next purchase will be a 24.

Because if I don't get it now (considering my total love affair with my 14), while I'm stoked about it, I never will.

So, get the GD 24! LOL

I prefer the 16 as an all-rounder.
The 24 is quite corrosion resistant - I unsuccessfully tried to force a patina on mine. Though it's a great size to carry, I could usually just use a folder instead. Then again, I can't EDC a fixed blade.
If I could, I may feel diffrently. Love 'em both, though.

I use the worksharp all the time. Both were sharpened with it, and scales were fashioned and finished with it.

You can't not have a 9.

Of the two, I'd get a 16. Maybe you can sell various bodily fluids to fund them and you can get both.

I have a worksharp. If you have a place to mount a 1x30 beltsander, get that instead. If not go ahead and get it. It's basically a small beltsander so you can use it for stuff besides sharpening.

16, for sure. Unless the only use you have for it is an EDC sort of knife, the 16 is going to lend itself to a lot more usage. The non-First Production run blades are FFG, so I think it's enough different from the 17 that you'll find it to be the better purchase.

Ahhhhh!!! So hard for a couple of reasons. I edc the 14 just about every day and already have a badass azwelke sheath for it so that's covered. But a 16 is a 16. And I shortened the 17 sheath so I could also use that...
