To be honest, this is my first Leatherman I have ever bought and I can not believe I waited this long. I've carried a SAK for a long time and throughout my childhood so it was a bit difficult to go to something else.

It's a Leatherman Charge ALX and I purchased it because of the recommendations from you all on the forums. Thanks for recommending it, its an amazing tool.

Anyone else carry a Charge?

I carry a Charge TTi when I wear jeans in cooler weather (bit too heavy for summer carry and cargo shorts) or when I know I will definitely need a larger tool. Love this sucker, but looking into getting a SOG of some sort just to try

Congratulations on your first Leatherman! The ALX is a good choice! I often carry the discontinued Charge XTi (camouflage). I like the dual bit drivers on the XTi (and ALX) since I use the pocket clip and don't carry the bit kit with me. Although it doesn't have scissors, I can use the plain edge blade or the scissors on the Victorinox Rambler that's on my keychain.

The ALX is a very good choice. If you are handy with a bench grinder you can also make an awl that will fit into one of the bit drivers, adding versatility.

I still love SAKs though. They are lighter to carry and seem more suited for tasks such as picnics and food preparation while Leatherman tools I see as more suited for 'down and dirty' work such as repairing machinery.

It's nice to have both.

Kick is nice, cheaper Leatherman... just way you open screw driver is frust rating. I still prefer my discontinued Pulse over Kick. I am getting Leatherman Blast soon for a allaround work tool. Charge-series is bit too expensive for me. If I would have money I would definately take Skeletool-series or Charge-series Leatherman.

But for Farmwork kick is really best leatherman. Cheap, sturdy and has good value / quality.
