I realized that when i took my caly 3 cf apart last night to clean it out and oil it i put the pivot in backwards. Bothered me lol. I'm extremely tired and didn't realize the knife was shut and when i popped the pivot out bam the blade smashed into the backspacer in the frame. I feared the worst but to my suprise the only damage was a slight fold in the edge. Sharpmaker brought it back in seconds, no chipped tip or anything. I'm glad i dinged my new knife because i now know ZDP-189 is extremely tough seeing as how hard it hit metal to metal and the fact that since it's had an imperfection it's fair game to abuse!

Glad to hear it's ok. zdp is good stuff. I've had stuff like that happen before when I've only had the knife for a short period.

Also, be careful, you may get an infraction for blocking out the letters in a curse word, Apparently the word is still there even with the ** in it. I didn't even get a warning for it and got an infraction.. so be careful

Oh, i purposely put the ** i didn't know what else to say about it lol. Woops. Yeah, it bothers me but i'm decent at fixing them up to look like new so its all good. Now i'm going to use and abuse it. I'm glad this stuffs durable though.

Probably not the best idea to be messing with your knife when your so tired! ;)

I put the pivot of my Tenacious in backwards on accident...I didn't even notice until I compared it with the other NIB Tenacious I have. I never fixed it, and it hasn't affected the knife's performance in the least.

thats what they are for man!! and if you love the knife enough get a 2nd one and throw it in the safe, just bring it out to fondle and drool over :D That's what I do!!! ENJOY IT!!!! USE IT!

Haha, i got it for half the price so whatever. Its obviously going to last me a loooooooong time. There was only like the thickness of a clip folded over. Straightened out in 2 seconds, i was amazed. If i did that with other knives it would have been bad. That spring is string. And the tip was still intact!

Ouch. That's why I always remove my blade pivots while the blade is in the open position.

Never clean, dis-assemble or sharpen your knives when tired. I learned that lesson a while back. The hard way.

I'm surprised you fixed a "slight fold in the edge" of a ZDP blade in "seconds" with a Sharpmaker. I've been using ZDP for years now, and the stuff I have is much tougher than what you described happened, and how easily you fixed it.

The CF Caly is ground very thin at the edge, so even though ZDP is very wear resistant it wouldn't take long to do what the OP described.
