Yup - me and the Dremel have been re-working a few knives lately. I have become pretty brave - but I want these knives to be mine in a way that factory knives, even small batch knives like mine can't be.
So I had this:
And after about 10 minutes of dremel - and an hour of hand sanding (
) I had this.
The previous configuration was perfect for a forehand configuration and the reverse configuration - but not much else. You could not cheat your thumb up onto the ricasso for the back hand, chest lever and reinforced grips.
So, I eased the front and had it ramp gradually toward the blade. Then I thinned the pinky area to fit my hands a bit better. The finish is dulled a little, but this is by design. I found on my buffing wheel I could get it to factory finish, but I wanted it a but grippier. It is plenty shiny to me.
I also used my new japanese water stones to get the blade properly profiled into a full convex and then put a super sharp edge on it.
I am VERY happy with this one.
Comments welcome.
