So I needed a new propane tank.

so I loaded the old one into the car and went and got an exchange.
It was round and wanted to roll back and jam the tailgate.
I couldn't have that so I slipped my Spyderco Delica 3 (no longer in production) under the tank so it wouldn't roll.
And wouldn't you know it?
I got home and .....no knife.
Shit
Had to drive back and look in parking lot. nope.
Came home all glum and thought about suicide but decided I couldn't have the great rib eyes I just got.
So...on a fluke....
I lifted the floor mat and
doggone
There was the knife!

Now I'm not as sad. :)

I always stand up the tank and run a bungee cord thru the top and secure the ends right and left on the "trunk-hooks."
An alternative would be to align the tank's top and bottom with the front and back of the car...put the tank against one side of the trunk and wedge it in place with a sweater or towel. I do understand that a rolling tank would drive you wonky
GLAD you found your knife...

Glad you found the knife-suck to have to commit suicide without your favorite knife to slit your throat.
If your talking about BBQ size they fit nicely in plastic milk crates creating a flat bottom.

T'wasn't as bad as the engraved stainless Delica that was "lost" for a couple months.
Grieved....wept...lost sleep....tossed and turned. :(

Even put ad in paper as a last ditch.

Then.....
found it where it managed to hook itself on some chicken wire and got lifted out of my pocket by the clip.

NOW.... I got me-seff a stainless NATIVE.... scarce lil thang. Had it engraved to enhance any sorrow if I manage to misplace THIS one.
I carry in only in my hand while watching TV.
Ain't takin no chances here, boss.:D

Maybe someday I'll work up the courage to carry it outside but not farther than 10 feet or so.

But did you get to eat the rib eyes?

Put the tank in a milk crate. It fits nice & snug and won't tip or roll around anymore.
Problem solved.
I'm am all about helping at risk knives.

Our propane and propane accessories place won't fill them without checking for upright load securement.

That's not so good. I had a slide-in pickup camper years ago that held the propane tank horizontal. It was held secure though, in a cradle with bolt down straps.

That's probably acceptable here, but I have seen many customers come in with the tank loose in the back of their vehicle . Also possible it's a law in New Mexico .

Glad you didn't lose the knife.
I had a Delica 3 that wandered out of my pocket about a dozen years ago.
I replaced it with a Delica 4, but I still liked the 3 better.

TSA has my Sage 2. I would have much rather fatally wounded or even lost it MYSELF. At least then it would have died an honorable death.

Glad you found it.
